Hi i'm thinking of changing over to sky from aol as they are rubbish, I have spoken to a couple of people at sky and they say i shouldn't be without my internet any longer than a day. I want to change my phone line from bt to sky as well. I read posts about people being without phone and net for weeks is this true.
Any help and advise please

I switched my phone/broadband to Sky recently. We didn't even notice when the phone was switched. The broadband was switched during the day and was then down until I came home and put the Sky router in place. I suspect if I had been at home the downtime would have been minutes.0

Don`t give it a second thought just do it.
I changed from terrible AOL to wireless Sky absolutely painlessly, 100% improvement, no problems and cheaper :T0 -
Downtime shoulld be no more than an hour or two. But if you are already on an AOL LU line, then you may not be able to go direct to Sky LLU (do not even consider Sky Connect (non-LLU)).
Talk to Sky or use the number checker on ther site.
If not you'll have to go back via BT on a return to donor (12m line rental contract). No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Hi my lanadline is with bt, just got call's and bb with aol, just don't want to go from bad to worse.:hello:0

What are your LLU options? Do an exchange search on www.samknows.com.
Can you get Sky LLU on your exchange? If not, you would be on the dire Sky Connect (non-LLU).
Nothing is much worse than TT, other than Orange. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
as macman has stated if you look at https://www.samknows.com it will tell you which companies you can go with and if you let us know which ones they are we can all help you out to make an informed choice.0

Hi thanks for the advice, i can get sky, my main concern was being without internet/phone for any length of time when it changes over, i have read elsewhere i can be without both for days/weeks.
Thanks:hello:0 -
Yes, we know you can get Sky (anyone can get Sky). What we asked you was whether you can get Sky LLU. If you can't you will be on Sky Connect-not the same thing.
Your other question has already been answered. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Just to echo what has already been said really, moved over from Plusnet to Sky (for both broadband and line rental) as they were offering 6 months free broadbad, £60 topcashback and faster download speeds. Also £2.50 per month cheaper after the 6 months is up.
Plusnet have been brilliant so it was purely an issue of cost.
The changeover was seamless. I applied online, Sky wrote to me and emailed me and kept me updated. I emailed Plusnet for my MAC code which I keyed into the online Sky ordering system. They send me a new router which I plugged in and away it went.
I'm now enjoying over 7mbps where as before it was around 4 and my monthly bill is also reduced.
Great stuff.0 -
