Why are the Information Television channels not on Virgin media not on Virgin

The Information TV Channels, which includes Information TV and Showcase TV is available on Sky Channels 201/203/231. It is also available on Freesat. Why are Virgin Media not following suit if it good enough for Sky and Freesat surely it is good enough for Virgin. It does increasingly seem that Virgin are unwilling to add new channels to compete with particularly Sky.The Information Channel website indicates that it may be shortly be shown on Virgin. Does anyone know if this is true

Higher standards? Sky will stick any old garbage on the EPG if you pay enough.

Quite simply because of bandwidth IIRC back to the various courses I did at NTL/VM.

They sound like great channels. You should be thanking Virgin Media for not clogging your EPG up with them. Anyway, these channels have to have a deal with Virgin to be on the EPG, maybe they don't want to pay?
  • If there is room for extra channels why not use. I would support those who want the Information Channel added to Virgin Media channels.
  • Whilst I do not know the full details I understand that both the Information and Showcase channels applied to shown on Virgin who have declined. Why as these Channels are shown on both Sky and Freesat, so what makes Virgin Media so different!!

See my post #3! The is not enough bandwidth alongside broadband & analouge signals, putting a channel on cable is different than on Sky & freeview.

Sadly due to platform limitations or deliberate intentions of the platform operators commercially not all services are shown across all platforms! Sky News isn't present on Freesat, Film4HD is exclusive to Virgin, Dave is exclusive FTA to Freeview etc!!

My only recommendation if you want Information TV and Showcase is to buy a cheap SD Freesat STB (like a Goodmans) and if you have an existing dish utilise that. Otherwise you'd need to install a minidish to receive the services.

Info TV along with Showcase show a lot of Landscape TV programming which I quite enjoy, there's a handful of other niche programmes on there of interest too.
