Savvycash Just to say I very reluctantly unscrewed the glass panel on my oven to clean it. I must say it was very easy to put back together again.
I think I would use an old toothbrush loaded with suitable cleaner and then try the hoover method.
Good luck!0 -
The oven in my flat still had the previous tenants dinner in it when i moved in - PLUS what i can only assume is a good three years' worth of baked on !!!!. I've tried conventional sprays and good old elbow grease to no avail, has anyone got any magical old style solutions or secret products that i dont know about?

Its not os unfortunately but it sounds like it needs some hard core cleaning. Oven Pride is brilliant, the shelves just go in a plastic bag.0

soda crystals mixed with water cut thru grease quite wellI'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!JUST LOVES THE O/S BOARD0

Hubby and I have just cleaned our oven today and used Cif oven cleaner on the glass door and on the metal inside the oven. Leave it for an hour, get a scourer and use lots of elbow grease.
For the shelves I use washing up liquid in hot water and one of those metal scourers.
Friends use oven pride and swear by it. Last time I looked the bags weren't big enough for our shelves but having just googled they now seem larger than when I last looked so next time I might try it and see how it goes.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
I agree with Oven Pride. Our Poundstrecher has it on offer at the moment at 2.99. Otherwise, tell the landlord and get him to replace it.I Believe in saving money!!!:T

I would ask the landlord to get a professional oven cleaning job done. I would not do it myself.
Sorry if this sounds offensive, but did you not know the oven was yuck when you viewed?
Landlords can get away with a lot. But I understand if the flat was one you REALLY wanted, and there was a lot of completion for it.
Good luck anyway in your new home!0 -
I always use Oven Pride.Slightly bitter0
