How do you get a 14" tyre on a 15" alloy?

    with a bit of filler!!!!!!:rotfl:
  • Online tyre sites are notorious for mistakes, my daughters car is on the correct original wheels but are completely different to what is listed on a tyre site.

Yes my car is the right tyre size but the speed rating was higher than the car had on and a check in the manual showed it to be wrong and that H and above was all that was needed. Only saved £5 a corner but still.

Of course you can, you just need to adjust the tyre size (in particular the profile) to keep the same size diameter of the wheel.

What on earth are you talking about?
I don't even want to think about the consequences if you managed to fit a 15" tyre to a 14" rim (how would it seal correctly), and as for a 14" tyre on a 15" rim, I would love to see someone force that on, given the tight fit of correct tyres.

You don't, look back at the person who I quoted and see his quote of the original OP.

The person I quoted got confused, the OP wasn't saying he was going to put 15" tyres on a 14" rim, he was talking about either 14" or 15" rims with different size tryes, which is entirely possible, which was what I was alluding to, that you can change wheel sizes, you just have to change the tyre profile as well.
  • Thanks all. :)

I put "confusing" in relation to the actual tyres being one size and all the sites saying it should be another size. :D

These are the standard alloys that came with the Punto Sporting and I've seen plenty about with the same alloys on too. Unlikely to have just come off a Brava or Stilo etc.

Anyway, it is not my car. Just doing a favour for the sister. She will get the 185/55/r15 tyres that are already on.

A lot of alloys are an inch bigger than the steel wheels for the same model.
The alloys have a wider, lower profile tyre on, the steels are an inch smaller to give a similar rolling radius with higher profile narrower tyres.

The online guide will probably be quoting the stock steel size for the Punto, not for the alloys on your model.

As you say, get the ones that are already on.

I would be tempted to go onto the fiat forums and ask if 195/50/15 will fit ok, they should and are considerably cheaper with more choice.
