It sounds like you know the answer to your question and if you committed to a one year contract, you would have to pay. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

My contract with Btyahoo broadband expires in June this year. I would also like to know the simple steps I need to follow to ensure a trouble free transfer e.g when do I contact my new provider and bt to cancel? I am yet undecided who to go with, my first choice is sky for free broadband.Thanks0

Be prepared for problems with BT - We have had a nightmare time with them recently (and before that). All they had to do today was switch us from one option to a different option and they could not even get that right. Had to spend an hour on the phone (0845 - very annoying when it was their fault that we had to pay for this call) to a call centre in India where the guy did not understand when I said "double s" when spelling out a name and instead inserted "W", which resulted in making the problem a thousand times worse!), got cut off twice. Eventually phoned back after being cut off yet again, got hold of a different guy who initially had to put up with me in a foul temper. It took him (literally) 30 seconds to realise the wrong code had been given by the other joker, and he sorted out it.
Sorted out in the end but why oh why do BT put their customers through this sort of thing all the time.
Sorry to be such a misery - good luck - I really hope you get sorted without any probs.0 -

When I migrated from BT it was very easy, just rang up (UK) for a MAC number and that was it.0 -
I am sure new legislation has just been brought in to ensure that they provide your MAC code when you ask for it, no quibbles.0

Grrrrrr don't get me started on bt LOL, I'm in the process (well waiting patiently by the phone for them to call me, I can't seem to get hold of the right person grrrrrr) of getting out of a contract I was mis-sold.
