Using a caravan as an office

The caravan is a great idea though. Cheaper to buy with the option of selling on later if it becomes surplus to requirements. A simple oil filled rad from Argos or similar will get a nice background temp, then whack on a elec fire instead on really cold days. Leave the A frame on and buy one like a 2 berth with a large table layout at the front. We are looking to buy at the moment and we have a 5 berth caravan that we store on a farm site. I would love to be able to get the caravan on the property so that I could use it for an extra "quiet" space should work, homework or just chilling out space be required.
Stick a couple of big outdoor plants either side of the A frame if you are concerned about people looking in and seeing you working. Or turn it around the other way. :-)
The good thing is that if you decide to move to somewhere and there isn't enough space for it you can list it on ebay and it will be gone in a week, look after it well and it wont lose much value at all. You can't say that for a big timber summerhouse.
  • On the same note, does anyone know what the situation would be with renovating a caravan or caravanette and placing it on my drive as a therapy room? Would I need planning etc?

I would suggest popping-over to 4OD and watching 'George Clarkes Small Spaces'. There is a lot you can do on your own property without needing P/P. One guy had a caravan that he had converted into a mini nightclub. All legal as long as it isn't directly connected to the sewer & water.
Another idea is a shipping container. You can cut holes out and fit double glazed windows & insulate the inside to control the temperature.
The guy on 'Small spaces' had to cut his one up to get it down a side passage then weld it back together in his back garden.
