car accident settlement

I have recently had a car accident and consequently my car has been written off. My insurer issued me with a cheque for 30% of the cars market value. I have written an email to their claims department to dispute this. However, I have not heard any reply. What chance do i have of reclaiming my cars full value from the insurer? How can i escalate the complaint and who to so that I can be more fully compensated?

What make/model/year/mileage was the vehicle? Was it taxed and MOT'd at the time of the loss? What condition was it in? What is the valuation that the insurer has placed on the vehicle prior to the deduction of excess/instalments?

You will not reclaim the "full" value ever (unless you have nil excess and no instalments remaining to be paid) as the settlement will be market value minus excess minus any remaining premium instalments.

Have a look online and in magazines( Autotrader etc) and find out how much it would cost you to buy a car the same as the one you had. Print them and send them to your insurer and tell them how much you think you should realisticly want for your claim.
We did this and got a much improved offer. Good luck

details on how the FOS will value the car.
Write a formal complaint to your insurer.
If you get no joy, refer the complaint to them.

Having complained about the settlement, the insurer called me today to offering me a 20% increase in the original offer. I reluctanty agreed to this as the claims handler did not seem to want to budge on the offer.

I have since obtained new information that provides evidence that my car is worth considerably more. Is it possible for me to renegotiate with my insurer based on this new knowledge, or I am now not entitled to do so?

My car is a Suzuki Swift, 1.3l, 1999, 32k Mileage, Automatic with tax and MOT

Dont think you should agreed to that. My car was written off and after a couple of offers i rejected i sent in prices of my car same age, similar mileage and condition. I got what the car was worth in the end. They are not there to make life easy. Just want to pay you as little as possible.

So I should talk to my insurer again even though i verbally accepted the renegotiated offer? Should I make a complaint or speak to the claims handler first?

I am trying to do a Parkers car valuation but cant seem to change the mileage. I have bought the premium valuation tool but it only tells me the price based on 120k mileage. Does anyone know how to navigate Parkers to change the mileage?
