  • Malibu- seriously?! Thanks for the ideas so far. Would any one like to swap my pound for two pounds like the paperclip man did?

There is a website called lastminute auction which lists all the items on ebay that were set at 99p no reserve and don't have any bids.

See if you can find something local and then try to trade up from there?

    Malibu- seriously?!

    OK, here's the story.

One Sunday afternoon, many many moons ago when I was a student, the three student nurses who lived next door turned up on our doorstep asking for some rolling papers. We produced some HUGE papers, richly decorated with psychedelic swirls that spelled "cannabis", and they were so grateful that they requested lessons in rolling your own.

We were happy to oblige and instinctively grabbed a bottle of Malibu that had lingered after a recent party as we left the house. A lively, varied, and mutually rewarding afternoon ensued.

    Years passed.

My now wife had an unfortunate (and totally unrelated) Malibu incident at uni and it makes her feel queasy whereas the merest whiff of said drink gives me a stiffy the size of a milk bottle.

Smells bring back memories like nothing else you'll ever encounter.

    Thanks for asking.
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.

Investing money is like making love to a beautiful woman, while zonked out of your swede, or something.

Anyway, that was then, and now is now, and I'm all growed up and mature,

    Maybe.

Gadget, that may be the best story I ever heard here.

Might be eclipsed by how I met my OH hitchiking in the bahamas but I will never kiss and tell lol! So you are the winner ;-)

  • here's an idea...

I bought 2 Daily Mirror newspapaers yesterday with the £5 off a £30 spend (45p each so spent 90p)

I went to Aldi with hubby today, we got a trolley each and did our weekly shop with £30s worth of shopping in each trolley.

I said to the lady behind the till to syop when you get to £30, gave her the coupon, paid £25, did the same with hubbys trolley

    Went over by 55p ;)

moral of the story, spent 90p on paper, saved £9.10 on weekly shop, thats the best way I know to invest a pound. :)
    Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000
    Save £12k in 2013 no.34 £11,800/£12,000
'How much can you save' thread = £7,050
    Total=£29,100
    Mfi3 no. 88: Balance Jan '06 = £63,000.
    Balance 23.11.09 = £nil. :)
  • I know someone who did this and bought scissors and became a hair dresser.

Or on the evil genius side you could glue said pound to the floor and film people desperately trying to pick it up for an internet video, insert canned laughs and benny hill sound track

upload to youtube, get millions of views and an interview on Richard and Judy. You can earn money from adverts if you got enough views hence producing a return on your investment.

    Then buy me a pint

Tesco's are selling packs of 9 full size mars bars for 10p so you could buy 10 packs and sell the ninety bars at a huge profit to your friends or work colleagues (see grabbit forum for details)!
