a pound to invest

HI everyone,
Not sure if this is the right board, but for Chinese New Year, we all got a pound in a red envelope and were told to 'invest it wisely' as this year, the Chinese Horoscope says is a good one for investments. It is only a bit of fun, but has anyone got any ideas of where best to invest my pound?

Wait around for a good offer on some staple item you buy like pasta, loo roll, shower gel etc.
Probably the best you can do.Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”
Said Diogenes, “Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.”0 -
you could buy a £1 scratch card if you are old enough. you may not win anything, but then again you may win something!
alternatively why not pop the £1 into a charity box somewhere, eg a charity clothes shop. you may not be be increasing the value of your £1, but you will be helping others!0 -
A packet of seeds?0

The seeds is a great idea.
My only ones were a lottery ticket, or adding 99 more and buying premium bonds ;-)0 -
Set up an ISA that allows £1 minimum investments.
...and spend £5 on transport getting to the bank, plus probably buy some lunch on the way back because it was quite a long trip you know, and then maybe do buy those shoes you wanted as you pass the shop window returning from the bank meeting.0 -
Oooo, this is a difficult one!
Start a "where should I invest my £1?" web site and hope it goes viral?
Use it to buy a (used) Stanley knife and mug someone?
Go to a bar where loads of rich, attractive, and unattached women hang around and use the £1 to buy a half of mild to give you confidence?
Buy a used copy of "Smarter Investing" by Tim Hale and save 100s/1000s per year on fees on your pensions and ISAs.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -
Well, if you keep it safe in the family, in 100 years when we are in the Euro v2 and pounds have been forgotten it might be worth quite a bit.0

OK, read "men" instead of "women" and "malibu" in place of "mild", but £1 might not stretch to such posh drinks.
Maybe £1 would buy a pushy uppy bra at a charity shop?
Hey, I'm just brainstorming!I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
