On a side note, make sure that you get a refund from the revenue , you are allowed I think 45p a mile, and you claim back a percentage of that

Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Indeed, claim against tax 45p/mile (up to 10,000 miles, less thereafter) minus what you get paid in mileage costs.

Also, assuming your normal place of work is not the hospital (e.g. home based with travel to patients), then you can claim the parking costs against tax as a legitimate expense. (IANA accountant, so you'd need to check.)

    P.S. Ignore the tickets.

Thanks everyone. It is a lease car leased from the hospital through a private company, can't remember what its called Lease Car Plan? But all charges would go through me, so they wont know anything about it I hope. Just worried when I give my car back in July 2013 they might know somehow? Definitely wouldn't do a lease car again, as my PAYE has increased, and I only get 10p per mile for diesel, so basically I have to pay to do my job, so the same as paying to park when I'm ONCALL!
Will look forward to Call The Midwife on Sunday with my glass of wine ;)

PPCs get the registered keeper's details from the DVLA = the lease company. Then they will write to the lease company won't they?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD
  • I work at exeter too! (in fact mostly on labour ward providing certain analgesia services).

I've had loads and loads of these "PCN/invoices"

Basically put it in the bin, or use it to light the fire at home since it is quite cold out.

What happens after a month or so:

Green letter (sometimes): from parking collection services demanding more money

Red striped letter 1, 2, & 3. from debt collection plus. all very threatening, court action, CCJ, blah blah blah.

Eventually they give up. remember DO NOT CONTACT them as this simply confirms your address to them.

ps PM me with your name if you want to discuss it further and i will find you next time i'm on LW.

pps have you seen the thing on IAN today about parking 'fines' - made me chuckle!!!!

  • Hi! Thanks for your reply, I can't seem to PM you on my iPhone? My name kind if gives my real name away! Bloody Ian- it's scared my colleague and she thinks we will all be sacked!
  • I still haven't received any letters after not paying 2 fines, and I have also given my lease car back, and no fines too! Load of !!!!!!!!!

Except they were not FINES, but unenforceable invoices.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • As has been mentioned, you can claim tax relief on the difference between what you are paid per mile and 45p for the first 10,000 miles and then to 25p per mile thereafter.

A word of warning, if you do this HMRC generally put this in your tax code as tax relief for future years and will stay there until you tell them to remove it.

This becomes a problem if you do less miles than you originally claimed for or stop being paid mileage. Some of our employees have fallen into that trap.
  • Whatdoiknow,

The easiest way is to claim it annually using actual figures. I do it that way for my wife.
