Graduate pay will go up by 4%

Graduate pay will rise by 4% this year - the first increase since 2009, the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) has estimated.
The predicted rise will come after an "unprecedented period of stagnation" in pay, the AGR said.
It's great to see that the economic situation is now so good that we can reward the young winners of the future!
Rejoice!!

Dude how many grads actually get a job even the job they want 10's of thousands of grads with no jobs manMaidstone Prices - average reductions at 8.5% (£19,668) Feb 2012 - We thought the dudes were not allowed to drop prices?0

I'm banking on old washed out Hippies getting a ZERO % rise in benefits to pay for it.Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0

Good news for the higher achievers I agree but this is on the same day that top employers say that they are struggling to fill vacancies due to the overall poor calibre of graduates that apply.
On a personal level my OH casually mentioned just prior to Xmas that his annual salary award was to be 4.5%, which I thought was good, especially as he received 3% the previous year also. Perhaps slowly things are getting better afterallDont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'

I have graduated, although not that recently. I will inform my boss that I will be getting a 4% rise this year and see how that goes down.

Does this include the graduates who are flipping burgers and working in bars."The problem with quotes on the internet is that you never know whether they are genuine or not" -

I think the lowest payrise i've had since starting my first 'graduate' job was 4% (6 years of gainful corporate employment). However, moving jobs is the best way to get a payrise (last job move netted me approx a 25% increase in package)
Is this increase really about a 'starting' salary?0 -
Probably is about a starting salary as you rightly say.
Anyone who is a winner can get massive payrises - and even bigger ones by moving jobs.
We - as an example - simply cannot recruit anyone ....... we are desperate, so hire Contract Staff on £1,000 a day - why would they work for us at a start of £42,000?!Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0 -

The salient point (which you clearly missed as part of your attempt to post a sarcastic reply ) is that some companies who were not giving out rises in 2009 and 10 are now starting to do so, which has to be good news for 'ordinary' people. Several of my friends have received a rise along with myself and I am sure there are others
BTW My OH is an ordinary dude on the street and isn't a graduateDont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'
