E-ON threathing court action

Hi,
I'm a single mum and both my children with asthma. I can't have the metre as it will cost more money and if it runs out ( which is highly poss as i get paid monthly) I can't leave the kids to go and get if they are ill ect.
You need to itemise your income and expenditure and then you will have to prioritise essential utility bills along with other essential outgoings such as rent, council tax, tv licence and water bills. Non essentials bills like mobile phone, cable TV should be cancelled and giving up smoking and drinking. A pre-payment will not cost you more but certainly will make you more aware of your energy usage and maybe this is what you anxious to avoid but, you cannot in the long term. Also ring EON for energy efficiency advise as not only do you need to reduce the debt but also, need to adopt an energy efficiency lifestyle which can be possible with asthma children.0 -
Yes they can switch, its called "you pay the final bill and switch provider trick"
And its not a debt, its an outstanding invoice, a debt is a judgement.
Not the case if the balance is over 28 days since invoice date, they can object.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -

Thank you all for you advice. It's been a great help to read. I'm unsure what the cost of usage is. The outstanding balance is approx. £250.00. I've no idea why my usage would of doubled that I now have to pay from £75 per month to £160. I'm not in the house anymore than before. My main concern of a ppm is running out of credit. I've had one before and not been able to get to the shops to charge it up when the kids have been too sick to leave the house ( I forgot to add my youngest has a heart problem. I can't leave them sick and go out to find a shop to charge the key. I can't ensure there is enough on the card/key prior as I can only put on what is left after getting paid. I have debt from other creditor. Using the template letters on this site I got all to agree a monthly payment of £1.00 and stop the interest. The highest creditor I pay is e-on. I'm shocked by the jump from £75 to £160. I'm told that my usage is £155.00 and £5.00 would go towards the debt. I do need to ask them if the debt has gone up ( how I don't know, but if it's jumped from 75-160 a month something has happened). I don't think e-on want to help. They just want the money. There figure is also based on estimated readings. They was also really rude to me on the phone. I complained but no manager has called back. Instead I got a call from an customer service agent who I thought was a manager as she started the conversation with ' I've recieved your letter,. I addressed my letter to the manager. When it came to light I was not talking to a manager I asked for my letter to be replied to and for their court action threat to be put in writing.0

they wont be wanting to take you to court, but they are pushing that the matter is dealt with by you in some way.
i dont realy know what anyone can do to help you , you could push the kids having asthma as a reason not to have a meter installed, i know they cannot enforce a meter if you have a disabled person in the house...
the biggest problem needs to be finding the money to keep up with useage, i live on my own and pay 40ppw to eon, 3.80 of that is towards arrears the rest is for currant useage, so what you are paying cant possibly be anything near your usage, which isnt realy their problem...
do you get tax credits now you are part time? do you have any non priority debts you are putting above your utility bills? ie credit cards etc, if so cab WILL be able to help you with a statement to send to creditors asking interest to be frozen. your utility bills need to be higher priority than other debts . if you were not yet in a mess with creditors when you last spoke to cab but you a.re in a mess now they may be able to now help.
if you do a statement of incomings and outgoings on here you may get more advice offered.
Hi. Yes I'm on tax credits, but it can't be increased as it works in the last tax year and my drop in hours happened in September 2011. All other creditors are excepting £1.00 per month. I'm told my usage is £155, which I don't understand at all. The reading is also based on a estimated reading.0 -

Hi. As far as I know my debt is not that high, but I would not be shocked if they tell me it is as it appears one min things are one thing then different the next. Ppm with two children, both with asthma and one with heart problem can be a problem getting out to charge card/key. It's happened to me before. I'm a single mum so have no one to leave the kids with and can't leave them alone. I'm also no where near a shop to get the card/key charged. E-on don't appear to care and are not offering any help but court action, which is not help. Maybe judge will look at it and make a judgement that I don't have to pay so much.0 -

some companies now have home top up devices though you would have to ask your supplier if they have this0 -

Hi. I've done all that - stop stuff I don't need ( don't smoke). Written to creditors and now pay them £1.00 per month. E-on is the highest I pay.0 -
If you cannot come to an agreement regarding the arrears and stick to it then a prepayment meter would be an option. If you allow them access without the court order then it will cost you less.
What is your annual usage in kWh and how much is outstanding today and for how long? Have you arranged a payment plan before? A prepayment meter isn't all bad. If you haven't been paying your bills on time you would have lost any direct debit discounts you would have got. Prepayment tariffs now cost the same as a suppliers standard tariff. Once the debt is repaid then you can pay a refundable deposit and around £50 to switch back to a credit meter.
Hi. I need to find out correct figure of what I owe and unit usage. I've been on a payment plan of £75 for approx. 6 mths with e-on. Never missed any payments. My worry of the ppm is running out of credit and unable to get to the shop. No shop near by and I'm a single mum with children with Heath problems.0
