It is not the responsibility of the OP to inconvenience themselves to rectify the multiple mistakes of the company. They have complied with their statutory duty, it's up to the company to fit in with that.
I second this; if the contact is as per the OP has said, I would have made exactly the same assumptions with regards to the collection on the 20th. No further confirmation should have been necessary from that.0 -

I guess this is where we differ, I would have contacted the company closer to the suggested collection date to confirm they were still coming and ask them to provide as narrow a window as possible as to when they would be collecting it. Either that I wouldve stipulated they can only collect between x and y times as I'll be out the rest of the day.
Nor have I said anywhere that the OP hasn't made reasonable attempts to make it available, merely that he has a duty to (but its fine as thumb seems to misread my posts often). But I have advised him on what would be a good idea given that the company are threatening legal action. While I think the company would be silly to take him to court, if they did and the OP can show they asked neighbours, offered several dates and times the company could collect, asked friends, asked the company to collect from his/his partners workplace etc then there is no doubt at all that a judge would find in his favour. If he hasnt done the above, there is no telling what the judge would find "reasonable" (personally I dont think the company would win either way but there have been a few unexpected rulings in the past so I tend to err on the side of caution).
The page I provided in my other post gives all the necessary information with regards to uncollected goods. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
In the end I offered them the option of them paying for a taxi to take the glasses to work for collection, to collecting them on a Saturday or an evening, of allowing for me to pay for a courier at my convenience or to compensate me for taking time off work, or for just being patient and I'd let them know when I was next in during the week.
They plumped for the latter. Once again, thanks for all your help.0
