i registered when i got this contract as i knew i would be keeping the number (i used to change my number every time i cancelled a contract or got a new one), i have had probably half a dozen spam texts in all those years

this is absolutely disgusting. How do we know they not doing this deliberately (whilst taking big back handers from the web site owners) without even telling us?
If it's more due to their negligence, then why weren't the appropriate safeguards in place and how do we actually know the problem has been fixed. Think the Information Commissioners office is going to get a call from me....

It now makes sense why i have had 4 spam/marketing calls a day this week.
