If you buy a Blackberry they come on their own tariff which includes all the data (the BB talks to the BB server all the time, so the data cost without the tariff would be prohibitive).
Once your BB is up, you go to the RIM website (RIM are Blackberry) and open an email acc with them, you then point this acc at your usual email acc. It checks every few seconds and if you have new mail it forwards it on to you. You will need to check that the email acc’s you want to use are supported by RIM/Blackberry.
You can have 10 email acc’s setup. I don’t know if AOL is supported or not.
If your company uses an exchange server you may also have issues there, but ask what passes for tech support there to find out, also ask about any firewalls they might have in place…

If you are on T-Mobile then a blackberry would cost you around £17.50 per month on top of your flex 35 deal.
You need the Web N Walk to cover the data useage and the blackberry service to get the e-mails sent to your mobile.

An alternative is O2 which offered a blackberry service for £10 (inc 75mb data usage) on tariffs £35 & over. Also, rumor has it that Orange may be doing some promotions on the Blackberry's in the next month or so.
