I live in a 1930's semi
The first neighbour we had you couldn't tell if anyone lived there or not, then a ypung couple bought the house had a baby ,2 dogs and never been taught how to shut the front door quietly.
Apart from that they are great0 -
Well after being kept up til 3am yet again by our neighbours having a blazing row between themselves and the 6 guests they had round when they got back from being on the lash after midnight, we've decided to move to a detached house ASAP.
Unfortunately this isn't possible for at least 2 years (when I qualify and hopefully get a job) ...

I live in a late 60s end terrace with ultra thin walls. It makes mine and most of my neighbours lives difficult and stressful. The property next to mine is now rented and the occupants (a couple who work shift work with a 4 year old who stays up most nights until 10 or 11pm) only mix with their own nationality and never acknowledge me if I see them outside. They used Skype all over the Christmas break speaking in their own language until I was forced to move my tv onto the party wall to try and cover up the sound of their voices and the echo from their relatives overseas. They are now retaliating by playing bass sounds on a keyboard/computer game very loudly every time I put the tv on. Speaking to their landlord has only made them worse! Although I could hear previous tenants, it was never a problem and their little girl used to speak to me in Urdu (despite her mother telling her i couldn't understand a word she said lol and the mother would come and help me in the front garden if I was out there.
The walls are so thin that you can hear every time someone pulls a plug, turns over in bed or visits the bathroom. One of my neighbours says she knows every time her neighbour has carrots as she can hear them being cut up. I had a survey done before I moved in but in my opinion it was a waste of money as they never commented on the lack of insulation between the properties. Thank goodness I am an end terrace as heaven knows what it would be like with two lots of neighbours. Having lived overseas, it never occurred to me to wonder if the walls were thick enough...wish I could go back to my detached house!0
