My husband who insists on pulling a grubby handkerchief out of his pocket in public and loudly blowing his nose. It riles me, I dont know of any other bloke who carries a hanky and its all a bit 'mummy's boy' to me. The foghorn sounds he emits wind me up even further. Problem is he knows it winds me up so does it all the more. lol

People who spell 'Disgusting' as 'Discusting'. If you have to be disgusted about something please be disgusted, not 'discusted'. Also, there is no living animal on this planet called a 'Hampster' and probably never will be.

Now we've moved in together I am slowly training him up. It's hard work though.:wall:

No it's not. Stop picking everything up behind him. Every time you walk past a cupboard, open it. When he asks; tell him you thought he liked the cupboards open. Same with drawers. Leave the clothes on the bed. Leave the milk out. Leave the tea bag there. Leave their crockery/cutlery there.

They do it because someone tidies up after them.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

People who misuse words, DRAWER not DRAW. "I left those stamps in the draw" What?

Also the word borrow, "I borrowed her that top"

No you lent her the top.

Yep, eBay is full of people selling 'Chester Draws'. I have this mental image of a chimp with crayons.

I agree with a lot of the things already mentioned.

One of my pet peeves are people who blow their nose in a restaurant, go to the washroom !!!!!!!

Shop staff who don't even acknowledge you're there and just carry on talking to each other. I don't care how fascinating your night out was, I'm a bl**dy customer

Well you can start the training by not cleaning up after him, he will get the message eventually

I can't stand the mess myself though. I know it sounds stupid but mess and dirt really affect my mood.:(

I'm still trying to work out what is reasonable and what is me being a nagging b*****d. I know I will need to compromise, but most of it is such straightforward stuff that I struggle to accept that anyone can't be bothered to do it.

I have loads, mainly to do with rudeness or inconsiderate actions.

    Specific things are people...

throwing rubbish on the ground and in parks and countryside particularly

swearing near children, especially outside primary schools, play areas etc

not replying to (children's) party invites at all or saying yes, not showing and not contacting me - even after the event to apologise for not showing/letting me know. height of bad manners.

smoking outside school gates and dropping fag ends there.

dropping fag ends in random spots in my garden for me to find later (read MIL)

not clearing up their dog's mess.

chatting loudly on mobiles in quiet places like cafes.

not saying please, thankyou, excuse me, sorry when appropriate - children and older people included.

impatient drivers. just because they are speeding, doesn't mean I have to and leave learner drivers and people who need to take their time crossing the road alone.

general "I'm all right Jack" attitude.

financial peeves (it is MSE after all!):

bragging about monetary things to people who have less then you and you know it.

looking down on people's lifestyles who are financially worse off then you.

being pennypiching to others' detriment, particulaly when you are financially ok. eg in my case a fairly rich family member not paying back a fairly poor family member (me!)

Writing this has been really cathartic! Better stop though. I hope listing pet peeves isn't a pet peeve for someone!:rotfl:

have a "pet peeve free" day everyone! :D

I am so totally with you on this one. I can't leave it, it really affects me to have a messy home. I can't bear getting up in the morning and the kitchen still being a mess. But as others have said, there's no incentive for him to do stuff himself if I keep doing everything. It's been 10 months so far - hopefully I'll work out a new training method soon!

People not using door handles to shut doors instead slamming the doors closed- really really annoys me. People finishing off your sentences and the tea bag thing happens in our house as well- apparantly hot tea bags go mouldy in the bin . OK. So why not throw the cold ones in instead of leaving them on the side, in the sink, or my personal favourite- in the sink with the dishes!!
  • My teenage daughter speaking out loud in text speak to me.

    Me: Tidy your room please.
    DD: No.
    Me: Why not?
    DD: CBA TBH
    Me: Just do it please.
    DD: LOL

Her excessive use of the words 'awkward' and 'random' also send me over the edge. She seems to use them in every sentence.
