ISA Limit..

Hi, I'm abit confused.

I opened a new ISA account on 4th April 2011 and put in £2684.68 of new money. I gather the tax year runs from 6th April so that would have counted towards my 2010-2011 allowance.

So far this tax year, I've put in £2655.32, so as the allowance for 2011-2012 is £5340 for cash, does that mean I can still put in there £2684.68 up until 5th April 2012?? I could be wrong...

Thanks!

  • I'm pretty sure that's the case as I opened a cash ISA in branch on April 5th 2011, put in £5,300 (or however much the allowance was for 2010-2011), then arranged a transfer for the next day which put in another £5,340.
    (It felt very good).

Checking in branch if you're not sure always works too!

    Yes.

Most banks have a "Remaining Allowance" part in the ISA, so you'd see it there.

    Who is it with?
  • Thanks guys! Its the Barclays Golden ISA Issue 3. New to ISA's so abit fuzzy on details but think i'm getting my head around things eventually!
