does anyone know if this number

01495 242830

is actually Orange?

I had a new phone a couple of weeks ago and theyve rung me twice saying I can have a free upgrade at no cost

Just sounded a bit dodgy:confused:

It will be a dealer random dialling numbers, rather than Orange themselves.

If you ask the name of their company and say you've never heard of it, they will probably hang up with no further comment

Any call from Orange will appear to come from an Orange mobile number, as above, it’s some scum of a third party trying to get business

It's a dealer, who probably bought your info from Orange.

I rang the number and it was something communications?

Any call from Orange CS will *always* come from 07973 100194. The only exception is the "Customer Service survey" texts you get asking you to call a 3-digit shortcode whose number I forget. 244 it might be, but either way - a shortcode like that can again, only really connect to an "on-net" destination.

ill second / confirm that. also, orange will never ask you to dial any other number than 150 if you are a current customer. (presuming its a CS issue for general retail users)
