Land Rover LPG problem sold as working but does not.
Hi, I recently brought a land rover, it was sold with a LPG conversion, I asked the seller many questions and he told me that the LPG system was working fine. I recently tried to fill it up with LPG, having never done this I took it to a garage that does LPG conversion and sells LPG, I got the owner to show me how to do it and he filled my tank, after he removed the hose it started coming back out, the value had rusted away, I was told that this was dangerous and if I drove it it could explode as there was nothing stopping fire going inside the tank. I left it with them and the next day they made it safe and fixed for £220.33, I contacted the seller who then laughed and told me it had been standing for 6 years, not what he told me before I brought it. He refused to do anything, so I want to go down the route of a CCJ, I kept all the emails and listing, I paid via bank transfer, I have his postcode and name but not a full address. He clearly miss sold me the car and I want him to pay for the repairs as I believe he is legally required to do. Can I apply for a CCJ with just a first name and postcode and if not how can I get the rest of the address? I was thinking his bank?
Please help,
Thanks
Ps. I think this is in the correct section but if not can a mod please move it

No you cannot get a CCJ with just his first name and postcode.
To get the full address the royal mail website has a post code database.
When you receive the V5 document it will have the full name of the previous keeper.0 -
Sorry OP but I doubt you will get very far with litigation regarding a private sale.
I thought I had someone bang to rights regarding a car with many faults and who blatantly lied but the judge didn't want to know.
You have very few rights.0 -
I did think this but the guy our right lied and deceived me to get a sale, he told me the system worked fine, then after I contacted him with the problem he called me a nob and then told me it had actually been sitting for 6 years, all communication has been via email and text so I have it all in writing.0

And my verdict still stands after my 1st Lexus (On my 4th now)...Never buy an LPG converted car unless it’s factory spec!💙💛 💔0 -
Did you collect the car from his home? If you did then stick the postcode into Google maps and use streetview to look up the number on the door you knocked on. Doesn't always work but it does more times than not0

I'd drive back to get it.
But I'd take him to court just for the satisfaction of doing it, and the extra cost to him.0 -
I had it collected, I just asked the delivery driver and he says he thinks he has the address at home
But if not I found him on 192.com as well but have to pay almost £18 to get the info. I will be doing it on money claim online. If he had not been so rude I would not have minded, to make it worse he tried to charge me £70 for the documents for the car, I declined.

Paid by bank transfer without seeing the car?
I think he saw you coming. Lucky you didnt get a postcard of a car or a keyring.
Do your research before buying.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Done it 3 times before with out issue, the point is I would not of cared if he had told me before hand, I still would have brought the car, its the fact that he lied to me and then was very rude when I complained and now I want him to pay.0

It doesn't matter, I'll repeat, you won't get anywhere with a private sale problem.
I had all paperwork, expert opinion, adverts etc etc.
The judge did not want to know.
