Concerned about identity theft.

Options
I've recently been getting letters from Talk Talk begging me to switch to them from Virgin for my broadband.

I have never been with Virgin.

Thing is the letters are addressed to me, but downstairs at 1, I live at 1A.

make no bones about it, the guy downstairs is a smackhead, should I be concerned that he may have taken out a virgin subscription or worse in my name?

I've done a credit check with Equifax and its not showing anything of concern, however its for me at 1A NOT 1.

What do you think?
thanks

David

Is anyone actually trying to charge you anything?

Indeed. There's nothing worse than a Virgin subscription! :D

No, there's no sign of any charges. It was just the combination of the talk talk letters, missing mail and dodgy neighbours got me worried.

    Thanks.

Talk Talk won't know who's with Virgin. I doubt they share their customer databases! Virgin are probably quite aggressive in their sales tactics in your area, and Talk Talk have launched their own marketing campaign saying 'Switch from Virgin to us!' on the basis that a fair proportion of people will indeed be with Virgin. The only curious thing is how Talk Talk know your name. Get them to remove all trace of you from their own systems, be vigilant for a while, but try not to worry.

bloody hell theres no way of contacting them unless you are already a customer or want to buy from them. In 2012 I'm not writing a letter to them.

I had this with Virgin! They were spamming me like crazy with their 'To the Occupier' stuff. I used to get three or four pieces a week. I had no end of trouble getting them to stop because I'm not their customer. In the end I had to give them my name (which I made up tbh) so they could add it to their database alongside my address and then mark my details as 'no marketing'.

What a palaver. But at least the continual spam has stopped. :)

Amen to that. Unfortunately, my only 2 options are BT and Virgin. BT can only offer me a 1mb connection :( Been with virgin 10 years and I can honestly say that barely a month goes by without something going wrong!

unholyangel are you sure that's your only 2 options? My daughter is in Carluke (Central Scotland) and o2 flies for her there.
