Index tracker ISAs - any recommendations?

I am due to come into a small amount of money next financial year, and as so I want to fill my ISA allowance. safety is key, so I will invest £3K in a cash mini-ISA, and the remaining £4K (it is £4K next year, isn't it?) in a index-tracker ISA. The plan here is to leave it to compound interest for the long term. I am obviously wanting an index-tracker ISA with low costs (less than 0.5%?) and will low error margins. Any suggestions?

Have a look at Legal & General they have a range of tracker ISA's including UK all share Index, US, European, Pacific and Japan and you can have a blend of more than one of these indices in your ISA if you wish. They used to be one of the cheaper tracker providers too but you need to check out the current prices.
Of course it won't be compounded interest you receive but, hopefully, growth in the unit price.
Hope this is of some help.

L&G did have a special offer on that offered the tracker with lower charges when using L&G both as the ISA provider and the fund provider rather than buying the ISA though a funds supermarket. Not sure if it is still available but it did make one of the cheaper funds even cheaper.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). it's obviously been a long day already! Thanks for correcting me here...
Thanks for your suggestions, I will investigate L&G a little further...0 -
i wish to use the 4k remainder of my ISA allowance in an index tracker ISA. I like MSE's fountain analogy but i have more dough to play with and wish for better than 5-ish% returns but dont want to unnecessarily line some managers pockets if i dont need to.
one of the reasons i love MSE is that i dont need to trawl and trawl - all the best buys stare you in the face no matter what the product is. I know this site is more about saving than investing but it also happens to be the most impartial site out there. Motley fool seems to list very few, with L&G at the top of their pile but are there more and better products out there?
So can any of you savvy people out there tell a confused soul whose index-tracker is best?

On the grounds that one tracker fund manager is as good as another - which they should be if theyre just following an index - go for the low charges.......I believe Fidelity is the one to beat at no initial charge and then only 0.3% per annum. L&G in the weekend papers got stomped on by Virgin tracker over one, three and five years.illegitimi non carborundum0

Not on this site they can't. See this ruleanimal_magic wrote:So can any of you savvy people out there tell a confused soul whose index-tracker is best?0 -
We couldnt tell what tracker is best even if that rule didnt exist. You havent said what sectors you wish to invest in so short of posting a list of every tracker there is, we couldnt answer.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
