hidden ssid broadcast problem.

to automatically connect to a hidden SSID you need to go:
'Network and sharing center' > then on the left select 'Manage wireless networks' > on your wireless network right click it and select 'Properties' > then in the box that comes up make sure 'Connect even if the network is not broadcasting its name (SSID)' box is ticked.
the other people are correct though, using WPA2 is security, hiding your SSID is privacy (but only to random normal person, not anyone using an wifi tool)0 -

Have you tried removing ALL security?
Remove the router from incoming connection. Leave router connected to PC/laptop by ethernet. Disable the wireless password completely and enable SSID broadcast. Try to connect. If this works, then you can hide SSID again and enter a new WPA password.
You will of course then need to follow jayme1's suggestion above after that.
While you're at it, get inSSIDer and check that you aren't sharing channels with all of the neighbours. I got a new tab last week for OH and she complained that it wouldn't keep a connection. inSSIDer showed that no less than 8 neighbours were using the same channel as I was. I picked a free channel (neighbours have no idea what that means) and I am now the best husband in the world apparently!
