They are the worst bank on the high street. Words can't express how much I loathe and despise them.
If what you're after is endless hassle, rule changes, incompetant staff, a 'don't give a f*ck' attitude and to be treated like dirt, then you've picked the right people.

I used to bank with them as a student and never had a problem. The manager in my local branch (Roath, Cardiff) was great and always available for a chat when my overdraft needed extending. I often used to see the bank manager out in town at night in various pubs, he always stopped to say hello.
My corporate credit card at my previous company was a Natwest one and again had no problems with them.
No doubt there will be plenty of people who have had issues with them, but then it's going to be the same for most of the big high street banks.

Indeed, everyone has different experiences. You'll eventually work out for yourself what you think... if you don't like them, you can switch to another bank very easily!0 -

Don't do it, crap interest rate, poor overdraft rates there are many better accounts on the market.0 -

cheers for that - don't forget that many of their employees, me included, add to this board to try & help where possible - FYI our branch are highly thought of in our locality & rarely a week goes by without a customer bringing us choccies or biscuits as a thank you, we are still ploughing our way thru our christmas tins of chocs
In every business there are incompetant staff, not just the finance industry - please don't generalise & insult people0 -
You will generally find that only people who have had negative experiences will reply to threads such as this, so do not worry too much about what people say. Personally I have never had a problem with them and anything I have asked them to do has been dealt with quickly and effectively, which is more than can be said for several other providers I deal with, such as Alliance Leicester, it very much depends upon your requirements from a bank. Their rates are not particularly competitive but provided your not going to keep loads of money in the account or go overdrawn by too much then that should not be too big a deal.0

Natwest are like any other bank - ive banked with them for 17 years.
They will throw money at you when you have some, and charge you the earth for it when you dont.
They are very unflexible
My advice dont keep all your eggs in one basket and spread them about a bit.*Spendi*

Very poor when compared against other high street banks.
Although their on line software is excellent - they seriously lag in the Cutomer Service department.
I've been with them for 20 years (since I was 10 year old) and have never recommended them to anyone - quite the opposite.
Never moved banks, due to apathy (common when it comes to peoples current accounts)
Happy to say I am in the process of transferrign my acocunt to Halifax, and getting £100 in the process - to be honest I'd have paid them to do it !!!0 -

I had no intention of insulting any one individual, so apologies.
Clearly I've been unfortunate - three towns, four branches, the telephone customer services and numerous other departments, including the legal team, were all consistently incompetent and/or horrendously rude and unhelpful over the five years I banked with Natwest.
But I do accept that there are probably some very good staff in the company as well. I've just never been lucky enough to deal with any. (Just realised that could be read sarcastically - please don't! I mean it!)0 -
I don't have current knowledge of NatWest but was far from favourably impressed in the past.
However I believe they were taken over by Royal Bank of Scotland some time ago and I hope NatWest have improved their service since then.
I've been with RBS for many years (since they took over Williams & Glyn) and always return their customer satisfaction survey forms giving a good rating.0
