Just been reading the Tesco thread on the grabbit board, some interesting chat ;) Don't know if it's been mentioned here already haven't got the time to read back! But Easter eggs JTD seem to be the product to be going for just now eggs £6 at Tesco, but £2 at Asda. Only problemo mysupermarket not showing the eggs at the moment.

    IDShot_90x90.jpg£6.00 at Tesco or 2 for £8.00
    £2.00 at Asda.

still catching up lol but just saw this I have been going to Florida every year for last 20 yrs we do always take a car but my uncle and family have been going for about 8 yrs now and never take a car they use mears shuttle or as caz said the lynx or i-ride are all really handy some hotels offer free transportation to the parks which is really handy to. Don't know the last time you where there but theres a great new shopping centre on the US27 not far from Davenport called postner park, it has target, jc penney ross's best buy and quite a few other places hth xx

No there wasn't much up the Davenport end of the 192 when we went so a new addition for me :) Awww I really wanna go to Orlando again!! :p:p:p

  • I used to own a travel agency.

It was quite heart breaking sitting there day after day giving people the benefit of our knowledge and experience - sometimes wasting many hours of our precious time trying to help put together fantastic holiday plans for ungrateful people who came in to "squeeze as much info" as they could from us before booking elsewhere.

It felt like people valued our knowledge enough to come in and ask for our help and advice but not enough to pay for it. Not sure how they thought we paid for premises, salaries etc.

I quite understand if you think a travel agent is a waste of time and you can do it all yourself - good for you, go for it. But it really gets my back up when people think it is OK use the information available in an agency but not support it financially. Next year when you want to pick their brains they won't be there - they will have gone bust.

That reminds me of people who go into the big electrical shops to browse and get info on stuff but fully intend to go and buy it from the Internet

The problem is there aren't the local friendly knowledgable travel agencies around anymore that you can trust, that I used to use.

I did go to the large holiday superstore Nikki will know which one I mean) & if they could have done the job for a good price I may have been tempted to use them this time.

I walked into this barn of a place and was asked what I wanted. "xxxxx will be available in a minute he's an expert in what you want."

No he wasn't, first we tried with the package company they were affliated to I had a few basic questions he couldn't answer. He did a quote & a brief print out & I asked "can you see if booking it all seperately works out cheaper", he did & was amazed it was £1000 cheaper than their own package & a couple of the roving staff came over to congratulate him.

Despite being told he was an expert from some of the answers I was getting back I knew he wasn't & when pressed he had never been to America !! let alone Florida

When I got home looking at his two printouts I found three glaring mistakes including one wrong date now how could I even think of booking with them with any confidence. Yes he did spend a long time but had he known what he was doing he needn't have.

I worked in travel for over 17 yrs and became a manager for several firms until becoming self employed and finally giving my job up to become a carer. In that time I worked for a chain and independants. I always gave unbiased info and advice and often felt used but happy in the knowledge that those that had then booked else where would remember me and return to book next time. Many did or recommended me to others. The trick is to find a consultant willing to think outside the box and to do a little research yourself before you visit the travel agents. My biggest issue was being told by those above to book based on commission earnt. I ignored this and rarely got a bonus but I did have loyal happy clients.:) Customers will always shop around as I do but if I get good advice and service without pressure I am more likely to return and spend money providing the price is right.

Just to throw my tuppence worth in about opticians - I have had contact lenses for 22 years and always went to my local independent optician. I paid £30 a month for the privelidge.
The receptionist was rude and surly and the optician repeatedly tried to sell me specs - quoting £350+ for a pair.

The final straw came in the summer when I had a letter saying my contact lenses were going up in price again - I spoke to the optician who shrugged and said well we have over heads. I collected my last lot of lenses (that had been paid for fully in advance) and cancelled my account.

I can get the same lenses in Asda opticians for £12 per month and that includes a 6 monthly contact lense check - the optician in Asda is lovely and i only wish I had made the move a long time ago. I thought I was being loyal to a local business but loyalty has to work both ways and ripping off long standing customers and offering poor service is not acceptable.

    Rant over! :)

You need to make your list bigger and keep stuff on it for longer;)

I quite agree. Today I found Andrex On The Go and Snow Bites - neither of which I have seen around for weeks. Last week I found a few of the Spontex/Scotch Brite scourers which I had never seen before.

I also have a Word document that I update daily and I cut and paste straight from this thread into it.

I have it divided into sections so similar items are listed together so I can easily find them on the list if I need to check whilst instore.

I use the highlight function to make any new or particularly interesting items stand out.

I always type today's date on the top in case I can't remember the date and need to check if a sel has expired.

Just want to moan for a bit, feeling scared a bit that our tesco passion will slowly be coming to an end.

It used to be 100per cent success to me,going to tesco and bringing bags of free stuff everyday. I have been to 3 tesco during past few days and brought back nothing, big fat nothing.:eek:

Does anyone else feel like that?

I beg to differ I took out £60 to do the weeks shopping on Friday, I now have the weeks shopping PLUS £65 in my purse :D
