Seems crazy when you think about it, the friend who went to Gretna had the best day ever and I've got another friend getting married locally next week putting so much pressure on herself it's unreal.
She's renewing her vows because her Mum passed away just before her first wedding and her husband had cancer last year too (he's OK now) so they had to delay it so the pressure for it to be perfect is almost too much for her:(
When she found out our other friend went to Gretna she said "why didn't she tell me"...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: bless her!! I did explain why...
:T
It's a shame she feels like thatbut I get it especially with the other stresses that went on. One piece of advice I read in a wedding mag which I thought was quite gd was do as much as you want before hand to make the day perfect but on the day just relax and enjoy because you cant change it, then you wont mind so much the things that go wrong.I can say that is true cos my now husband was over 20 minutes late to the registry office (he actually arrived after me which meant I had to hide around the back of the stairs so he didn't see me in my dress on arrival :rotfl:) and the winesses arrived a good ten minutes after the ceremony was supposed to start. It didn't bother me on the day and now I think its at least a gd story to tel.. :rotfl:

I got married up in Gretna Green!!
13 years ago this summer, My hubby to be, Me, our 2 week old daughter, My soon to be BIL and his girlfriend and their daughter all went to gretna, had a double wedding! ( they were our witnesses and we were theirs)
Had a fantastic time! Best thing we ever did!
No one else knew.
I really wanted to do it as we were engaged and my parents wanted to pay for the wedding but they had just paid out over 6 grand for my sisters wedding and i just didnt want them to have to struggle for money for me, they had to scripm to get that together and my sister had no problems demanding the money from them but i just couldnt do it to them!
My Oh doesnt like fuss either so we decided that we would do it after the baby was born.
It was brill, no debts had a fab day, although i did feel guilty about not telling my parents
Sounds more like what we are after!
My sister though, she got married and only knew about 10 mins before via live tv news!!!
My mom arranged everything. Everyone was sworn to secrecy. It was at a beautiful hotel. She was told that she was going to a works christmas party as her bf and our dad and brother all worked together.
When she turned up everyone was hiding inside. On the driveway was central news. They asked my sis and her bf if they minded walking around the lake holding hands for a promotional feature. When they got to the bridge, there were swans nderneath that coincidentally were making hearts with their heads and necks.
Her bf got down on one knee and proposed, she laughed and said yes, then he told her it was now!
The dress was easy, we had a girls day out and coaxed everyone in to 'pretend t te assistant' who knew all about it!
Mom knows better than to try hat on me. Id be in biggest mood if i thought everyone had lied to me!!!'!Please don't judge me. you couldn't handle half of what I've been through.0 -

£12.50 is still bargainous thoughpeople pay more for those ones that people wear that always go out of shape and stop people from actually picking up their feet when they walk :rotfl:
