Oh Happy. trust you with the cruising, nobody else noticed.
A few weeks ago someone was talking about cottage industries and used the word cottaging, I was rolling about laughing but nobody even commented, not on the same wavelength me thinks.lol.

And how much would these type of app cost....(I'd like the book one!)

The book app itself (one of apples own apps) is free. All you have to pay for is the books/news/mag subscriptions.

Apps range from free to 69p to £4.99 to £150 depending what you want. Some medical journals for student doctors cost hundreds of pounds (same as the actual books) but instead of carrying of a bag of books around you carry one iPad.

The apps for doing word processing/spreadsheets are about £4.99 if memory serves me correctly.

And the books themselves are just ebooks you can buy anywhere....not kindle ones which are just amazon?

I'm certainly quite tempted. Where to buy and how much to pay is the next question.....and do I buy soon or are the prices likely to come down in a few months time?

You have to buy the books from apple through iTunes. There is also a Kindle app for the iPad which allows you to purchase books from Amazon if they are cheaper there. Plus don't Amazon have a load of self publishers on Amazon which means hundreds of free books.

The iPad 3 is rumoured to be due in a couple of months and the iPad 2 will drop slightly in price.

Buy it from T's and get the CC points. If you can, try going through Quidco too to get a bit extra cash back. This is the only way you will get it cheaper as it doesn't matter where you go on the high street (T's, Currys, Carphone Warehouse, Apple Store) the prices will be much of a muchness as apple are strict on pricing.

What might be worth looking in to is apples reconditioned units. Cheaper than new but that way you know they have been fully inspected by them.
