Finally sorted it out, had to go find and enclosure to turn HDD into a portable one then connect to netbook and try to find the very obscure file DH saved it under. Took me hours to figure out how to search the HDD for the file.
He'd stored it under
TAX POO (not right word but sticking to the no swearing/inappropriate words)
Just releaved he used his normal password for mine, was panicking about that also because he hadn't stored the passwords
Back to catching up from yesterday, be back in about 4 hrs
Glad you managed to sort it . :T0 -

When I had my new iphone it needed a micro sim and mine was an old type, took it to the o2 shop who said they would transfer all my numbers to a micro sim and it would be done in 24 hours but they never arrived on new sim. I contacted o2 who said it doesn't always work so I lost all my contacts as they were wiped off the old sim when they did the transfer.september wins - toshiba laptop, timotei shampoo & conditioner, mccains games, pimms picnic blanket.

Spiralingdown - I don't know your circumstances and I'm afraid I know nothing about computers, but if you tax return is going to be nil then you will not get charged a penalty. If it is late, then a penalty may be added to your statement of account, but will be reduced to nil when the return is submitted (if it is nil).
Also if the return is DH's then under the circumstances (I think you said he had sadly passed away?) then I would contact the helpline asap and explain the situation. They are normally very helpful under these circumstances.
And a useful tip perhaps for any of you. If you need to ring any of HMRC's helplines that are not free or you only have access to a mobile, so very expensive. Then you should be able to make the call from your local Job Office, CAB or HMRC contact centre. They all have phones on the wall, in the waiting rooms for this kind of thing.

I'd done DHs final return back in June with help from my local office, best about it was I was supposed to do mine there but they never rang me to give me the date and time so it just went out of my head. I think I'll get this years done quickly rather than waiting for the last minute.SPC #329 £471/£500 banked

The pies were atrocious too so I rang up and was promised a £10 gift card. If I ring about these as well, they will think I am just picking fault!!
Note to self: NEVER go in Ts for a quick cheats meal when you are hungry as you will buy too much junk!!!!!
I remember you complaining about the pies. I always seem to shop when hungry but buy more or less the same things every month.0 -

I know you intended no offence, but I'd remove that word from your post if I were you; there are a lot of people that post on here, that have disabled relatives, who will find it very offensive. HTH

I think F was referring to the 'How To... For Dummies' guides that are so popular.
Dumb can also just mean ignorance. The guides are great for instructing in a non condescending way. I used to have the How To guide for PCs many moons ago when I was preparing for an interview which had a quiz paper on PCs!:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A
