:D I always thought that the difference was Shepherds pie should be made with lamb and cottage pie was with beef.

Spot on! I have always been told this too. I NEVER make shepherds pie as I avoid lamb. I make cottage pie on a very regular basis when the beef mince is reduced but I also sometimes do the same dish with pork mince if I can get it whoopsied ('pork' pie is a bit misleading though!!)

    :(

ghastly swollen foot & lower leg. Got too much today as it's tight & huge. So did get a Dr's appt tonight :T
It is the Gout causing this not water retention (as I thought wrongly:o )
Lovely Dr has given me 'proper' Gout pills not anti inflams, only had 1 so far & can already begin to bend my ankle :T

Going to a 1940's Charity Tea Party tomorrow :D scones & sandwiches (hopefully not ration ones..)

Agree as far as commercial cook books go, but for us the meat is interchangeable. The clouds vs tiles is probably just a bit of local colour:)

Your description definately sounds better anyway and I am sure it is easier to get the kids to eat it when they are young. I have never made any with lamb only beef or pork mince and used either mash or sliced, and always told the kids it was shepherds pie. So as far as I am concerned anything goes:D:D

  • Evening everyone

Sorry if this has been asked a million times already but does anyone know why T's stand an SEL on it's side?

I saw Thornton's Melts on special offer £4 reduced to £3 until 14/02 and the SEL was on it's side, it's been like that for 2 days now.
