A year ago i got a stovax huntingdon 25 installed. And I have been trying out different fuels.
And lots of wood.
What i usually do is burn wood during the week as the fire may be on for only 4/5 hours a night. And at the weekend I have been burning coal as the fire maybe on 11/12 hours.
What I have found is that with Anthracite is that is burns a lot hotter around 200C but I may use a bit more and struggle to get to burn all night.
and with Homefire ovels they get covered in ash and regularly need poking etc and give less heat off about 100C less than Anthracite but I can keep it burning all night at very low temp.
So is there an tips with keeping an Anthracite fire going. I have no torubble getting it lit. And should I buy a ton now for this and next year. Its about £18 for 50KG, would it go down in summer?
