Because its a scam, based on impersonation of authority!
As you would quickly learn if you took a few minutes to read the basic info here.0 -
Hezza, for such a lot of posts, I'm surprised you're posting such bizarre and inaccurate information.
1.) We don't know who issued the ticket
2.) Very few tickets are the result of parking 'illegally.' These are generally police tickets or councils running under the 1984 criminalised regime.
3.) Council tickets are often appealable, so I don't know why your advice assumes guilt
4.) Private tickets issued under contract law are 99% of the time unenforceable and should be ignored.0 -

Parked illegally ? Obviously you have no idea what you are talking about, this is a private parking company that operate a well documented scam, there is no illegallity involved at all ! You would be advised to educate yourself about this scam. Start with the sticky threads in the parking forum, then watch the videos from watchdog.
Once you have done so you will realise how much of scam this private parking is, hope you enjoy your education , and hope you don't post such misinformed replies in future!Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -

The same reason we get Nigerian emails saying we can have lots of money, and why we win lottery's we don't enter, and we get emails from banks that we don't bank with!
Its a con!0 -

Wow, why post on a parking forum with so little knowledge. Get your facts right then advise people, otherwise you're just helping the scammers.
Edit to add: Unfortunately the old British attitude of something with the appearance of authority should be obeyed is what these companies prey on. They have no more power than you or I to fine anyone, don't start believing anyone but statutory bodies can do that!0 -

Not a particularly helpful response.
My only concern is the mention of red lines (which obviously mean squat on their own), but can you just confirm that despite this, they are on PRIVATE (Hospital) property, and not your typical London "red route" lines where a ticket would be issued by the local authority and/or police?
Was the original ticket issued by a private company, and not (for instance) "Sometown Council"?
If it is from any of the companies listed in the sticky at the top of the thread, just IGNORE it. Play "Letter Snap" as the varying different threat letters drop, and then rejoice when you receive the last one.
They are invites to pay a non-binding invoice, nothing more, despite the threatening tones. Do not write to them. Do not call them. You'll reach the end of the line eventually. Even if they did take you to court they could only (really) claim for their civil loss, which given you had not overstayed, or took up a parking space without paying, is a big, fat, £0.00.
You'll be fine. Stop worryingJust be sure that it IS a private and not a public authority ticket.

What utter nonsense! The OP hasn't parked illegally and most certainly doesn't have to pay a penalty."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Because people think they can scam people by issuing "fines" when they have no legal authority to do so. Why not read the parking section properly to get a better handle on the true situation with private parking."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"
