Parked where I shouldn't have..

Options
I have read other posts, but I think this is slightly different so I would like some advice please.

I work at the hospital, and have always parked on the outskirts (be it on red lines, where I shouldn't be) but no where that is accessed my ambulances or any other emergency vehicles. Have always parked here, and have continued to do so and only ever got this 1 ticket.

There is a huge waiting list for staff parking, I'm on the list but looking at a few years before I get a space. And at £10 a day I can't afford to normal car park (working 12.5 hour shifts).

Got a ticket in November, ignored it. Was advised by friends, family and from posts on here. Today I have a letter come through (not sure what it says because it is at home, i'm living away but my parents opened it). They have just told me I need to pay the £50.. have asked what company it says its from but no response yet.

They want me to pay, so I don't get any CCJ's ect.. I don't know.

Do I? Don't I? £50 is alot of money. Thanks :)

  • You parked illegally then ignored the ticket. No matter what the justifiction, you have to pay or be dragged into court. No excuses.

Of course you don't have to pay. To get a CCJ the case would have to go to court (very unlikely), you lose (very, very unlikely) then THEN you refuse to pay what ever the judge orders within 28 days. This is such a remote possibility that bit's not worth worrying about. Your situation is no different to the many other cases featured on here.

Nothing "illegal" at all. As this was private land then no statute law has been broken. Don't you know anything about civil law?

    Who issued the ticket?

If it is one of the usual private operators, don't worry as it is a meaningless threat and they will not go near court, so the threat of a CCJ is meaningless. :)

However, if you are living away and your car is still registered at your parents address, you should update it as that is a potentially troublesome and expensive issue!

Are you another PPC troll or just plain ignorant?

I still live at home, don't worry :) But right now i'm staying with my boyfriend. Thank for your advice, not to convince my step dad. I will be able to see it myself tomorrow when I go back home and will let you's know what it says.

Charming. Welcome to my Ignore list.

So, do you know the difference between private parking "tickets" and those issued by councils? If you do then you know that on private land no statute law would have been broken, hence no "illegal" activity.

Then why did they get a ticket?

Have you read the stickies or other threads on this subject?

This is a well established confidence trick, dress up invoices or invitations to pay, as an official penalty or fine in the hope drivers will pay up for fear of getting a larger penalty or fine, or CCJ, when, in fact, they are to all intents and purposes unenforceable in the courts.

Please think before you post next time.
