Just wondered if members would like to add posts giving details of how long their complaints are taking to get settled at the FOS.I have 1 outstanding complaint which is getting nowhere.
Original complaint ,CC PPI, with HSBC turned down MARCH 2010 AFTER 4 MONTHS
Adjudicator upheld complaint in sept 2010 but HSBC disagreed with this decision so it was then forwarded to the waiting list for an Ombudsman in Dec 2010.
After many phone calls and letters I am afraid I am no further forward and am unable to get any help or encouragement whenever I phone.Whenever I speak to anybody at FOS they are unable to give me any timescales??? It is very frustrating to say the least. Considering I have had 6 previous complaint settled various ways from direct with company and 1 with the FOS adjudicator.
ANY COMMENTS??

Hiya mines been with them for 6 months and they have not looked at it yet, usual letter of you are in a queue etc,,,if and when they uphold you have have to wait for an agreement, the people you are claiming against may still refuse and it has to go higher id say as an average between 12-18 months.0

The actual ombudsmen are few in number and have far too much work. It is not unusual to see multiple year waits for them to make their decision.
Unlike an adjudicator decision, the ombudsman decision is binding on the company. One thing to be wary of is that uphold rates on PPI at the FOS have fallen from 92% to 68% and that an ombudsman will look at the complaint in more depth than an adjudicator. Documentary evidence will be key. If HSBC are lacking on that front then it will help you. However, if yours is just a verbal accusation without evidence then it will harm you.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). As you are a newbie I will answer but I wil also mention that it is considered rude to hijack someone elses thread with an unrelated question. It takes the conversation off course at worst or creates multiple conversations in the thread which make it hard to follow and it is not fair on the original poster. You should create your own thread.

Hello
I sent my claim against Capital One to the FOS in July last year. Received a phone call from the assigned adjudicator early January ( 6 months ) who was very helpful . I sent her the information she needed a few weeks ago and she called me again to clarify things. She very extremely helpful , could not say how long it would take to reach a decision but I've been very impressed at how they've kept me informed.

We took our Central Trust complaint to the FOS in June 2011, we had a letter from the FOS in September 2011 saying they would be contacting us in the next three months, we still haven't heard anything. I have chased them on the telephone this year to be told that we are waiting for an adjudicator to look at our case. :mad:0
