Any Humax Experts/Users Out There???

Just bought a new Panasonic TV and decided to ditch Sky to reduce outgoings. Lovely local TV/radio shop man in the village sold me a pre-owned Humax box.He set everything up but I am struggling a bit as there ws no instruction manual with it.

I find it far "clunkier" and slower than Sky but have a few questions.

I "think" I managed to set something to record and it is the first of a series.I would like to record them all but couldn't for the life of me find how to do this?

When I turn it on,it always returns to the last channel watched which is fine but if I look at the TV guide/menu thingy,it ALSO starts at the last channel, even when I click the "all channels" option.
Is this normal? Am I just being stupid or fussy??:p

Next dumb Q...how do I delete previously recorded stuff?

Thank you in advance for helping this dummy!

FoxSat HD box on the Sky dish?

If so highlight program in the guide and press the circular OK button in the middle of the directional ring - it will ask if you want to record the series and if HD+SD are available which you want. The others may be the same.

My FoxSat HD isn't blessed with a fast processor either - ask your doctor for some beta blockers and you'll get on with it just fine :)
  • If it's the Foxat-HDR check this out http://www.avforums.com/forums/freesat/1517610-media-file-server-bundle-foxsat-hdr-release-4-0-a.html for extending its usefulness. Also if you want to switch to recording without waiting for the epg delay (mainly disappeared now though) press schedule and the red button (in the red/green.yellow/blue telextext style row)

Go back to Sky and pay £10 a month to use your Sky+ box and record the free channels. Far better than the Humax box IMO. Then send the Humax back or sell it.

And no doubt also benefit of their(SKY's) excellent methods of archiving your recordings , and watching the set/recordings via IP anywhere in your house, copying to your PC and being able to put your own recordings on to it , NOT . Thirtysix I would keep your £10/month and persevere

You're not alone - they are far "clunkier" than the Sky box. I still use mine but for anything that's really important, I use my Sky box e.g. recently the Humax decided for some reason it wasn't going to record Corrie on ITV1 so I then set it to record the repeat on ITV2, Now it's recording ITV1 and the 2 repeat on ITV2 so I end up with 3 recodordings of the same episode. But if I cancel the ITV2 recordings what's the betting it will stop doing ITV1 again!

I can't watch Sky News on it at all. Whenever I go to channel 82, it freezes within a minute or so and needs to be disconnected to resolve it.

If i didn't have my SkyHD+ box, I'd have ditched the Humax long ago.
  • @Thirtysix: It really would make this thread more meaningful if you'd say which box you bought. There's a world of difference between a 9200T and a HDR-Fox T2. We don't even know if it's a satellite box or Freeview.

dumpinh sky and buying a HUMAX BOX is best thing you could do ,so you miss a few programs ,save a fortune and not brainwashed into watching what sky decides.

Good luck recording radio on your Sky box!
Anyway, kiwibreaks has given you the correct instructions for series record, press the OK button instead of the record button to get the series link option.
You're right about the guide, and I actually find it useful that the channel you're currently on appears at the top, but there you go!
Deleting - go into media as if you want to watch something, press OK on it, and delete is a few items down.
