The benefits system is there to support the people who need it, for whatever reason. What it is not there for is people for abuse the system through greed, which no one on this post I think, can be accused of. It sounds like the people who have posted on here, genuinly have had no choice to reley on the benefit system, and whats more that they obviously don't like having to reley on "the taxpayer" as you so kindley put it. I think that your comment, Dave was not nescessary on this post and offensive to the people that have posted about their unfortunate circumstances.I say what I like, I like what I say!0

In fact, Dave, go to the vent board and look out for the thread The 40K family - don't know how to do links etc sorry.
I think that this is the type of family that you may have meant your comment about, not the people who have posted on this thread.I say what I like, I like what I say!0 -

Thanks for the advice. As I don't know anyone around here I can't get someone to sit in with me. But if it's just queries it should be okay? I had a brief visit a couple of sundays ago, just asking me to confirm every detail was still the same, and actually they didn't know I was claiming for HB as I mentioned it. The sunday visit was 2 officers. I was very suspect about it being a sunday!
Oh i hate all this worrying. I did try to ring them on Friday but just voicemail and no-one got back to me.
Anyway any other thoughts are greatly appricateated, or experiences.
Apart from Dave and his negative comments, Thank you all sooooo much. I feel very lonely in this situation and you haven't made me feel like a scrounger. Life, if we could live it in hindsight, we'd all be rich.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and if we had it, we woldn't end up making half the mistakes we make, but then life wouldn't be quite so interesting!
Many people are rich, they just don't realise it xxxI say what I like, I like what I say!0 -

If you have a mortgage, it is not Housing Benefit you should be claiming as that is only if you are in rented accommodation. Perhaps you have said this to them and meant mortgage interest payments and that is what they're looking in to?Torgwen.....................

No allegation mentioned, no mention of getting legal advice.
If they are going to interview you under caution, the letter will say this. The letter will also advise you to seek the help of a solicitor or CAB.
As for others saying there is better communication between HB and DWP, I can only disagree, based on personal experience. They certainly don't work together in this part of the country, nor is there a one-stop office dealing with claims. I've been told by people I know who work for the DWP that liasing with the HB dept rarely happens. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.
