Not sure if this is the right section for my question. Due to financial restraints and my ability to manage my cronic pain, i have failed to use my last four monthly medical prescriptions. I have however still gone to see my GP who has continued to issue the prescriptions. I have not collected any meds conected with these prescritions, but felt that i didnt want to stop them in case i need them or can afford them in the future. My question is, will my GP know that i have not collected the meds which these prescriptions are associated with. I do not inted to try and use these prescriptions, i jst dont want to lose the facilityand option to have the meds in the future

I don't have the answer to your question but I am concerned when you say you can't afford them.
Do you qualify anywhere for an exemption card? click
Have you put in an HC1 form to see if you can get them free on low income grounds? click
Finally have you looked into a Pre-Payment certificate? click0 -
If you are seeing your GP regularly then you need to tell him that you are not taking your prescribed medication. He needs to know this in order to help you effectively manage your condition.
You could even tell him why you have not collected your last prescriptions.
If you usually collect your prescriptions from the local chemist then they will have a record on theor computer of the last time you had these painkillers. if you then try and use a back-dated prescription they may well query it with your GP.
The suggestions made by KxMx should ensure that you are able to afford your medication in future.0 -
Thank for tha KX. Cant see if i qualify for free scrips, probably wont knowing my luck and the exemption card is out. Idealy pre payment would work out cheaper, but i cant afrod that at this time.0

Prinz - i will never try to use the scripts that have already been issued, but when the next one is issued i will probably get the meds. I just dont want my GP to ask why i have not used the previous scrips ..... If he knows that info as a matter of course. Do they get some sort of reciept to place on my medical file to say the meds have been collected or not ?0

I reaaly understand about not being able to afford things, but medication is essential, is there really not anything you can cut back on to pay for a PPC? The yearly one can be paid for by DD over the first 10 months. So it spreads the cost and you get 2 months payment free. £10.40 a month and if prescription prices go up in April your payments will remain the same.0

Doubt if theres any easy way doctors would know if you were using the issued prescription, however if someone was claiming esa,was called to a medical and claimed to be taking medicines a,b,and c,for their condition to support their claim and the dwp suspected that was not the case then I wouldnt doubt they could and would make it their business to find out which chemist it was claimed the prescriptions were taken to and if medicines were issued.0

I didnt read far enough to know about spreading the DD payments. That is def an option now, thank you0 -
Yes, the surgery will know if your prescription has been used or not.0

I have been told they would know, but i have been in reciept of prescriptions every month without question, even though i havnt used the last four. I DO intend to use my next one and will start paying PPC. Would be just my luck now if iam challenged by my GP if he knows or discovers i have not used my previous four scripts0

i dont see how a gp would know tbh,i suspect they dont have the time or the inclination to find out
BUT it is in YOUR best interest to tell the gp you havent been taking the meds for 4 months0
