Do you have a nice post office?

I'm very grateful to my local post office...
I used to spend ages standing in the queue at the P.O, then one day when the queue behind me was nearly out the door, I suggested I leave my parcels with him and I call back later to pay, which he agreed.....So ever since then that is what I have done, filling in the recorded delivery slips at home and I just say send the cheapest way or give any special instructions, then i just nip over to morrisons for a while and come back and pay....great.
Maybe try asking this yourself if they are familiar with you, saves hanging around.....:j

  • The staffs at my local PO is really nice too :)

I usually weight my parcels and write down the price and 1st or 2nd class at the corner and prepare all my proof of postage, so when I arrive at post office, they just add the price up, and stamp my proof of postage, so it is quite quick.

then they attach stamps on parcel later when it is not busy. They have done a good job too because my items have never get lost in last 3 years (miracle do happen :rotfl:)

I've been using online postage thing recently for a lot of my ebay sales. Now all it needs at the post office is a quick stamp and signature. Unfortunately I still have to wait in the huge queue and not everyone is as efficient as me!

At out local sorting office, where you go to pick up post they tired to deliver whilst out, they send parcels too and the waiting time is very quick, althought the staff there are miserable!

my village p.o. was closed down a couple of years ago:mad:
the one in the next village is too far to walk, so I have to drive.
there is a royal mail depot virtually at the end of my road, I wish you could send parcels from there (you can pick them up , so why not?)
the main p.o. is in newcastle under lyme , a mile away from me but over the road from the council offices where I work (allegedly:rotfl: ), the staff there are slow and totally uninterested, considering that ebay is keeping them employed! I would rather chew off my arm than go there but if I have a purchaser late in the afternoon, I will grudgingly go so as to save myself a trip the next morning, as I work from 5-8pm.

  • Hi everyone.

My post local post office is great. I think post office staff get a raw deal so i think it helps alot if you show your appreciation for their work, maybe even give them free samples of what you sell so they can personally take an interest in you and get to know you. They are more often than not more than happy to help and possibly even let you drop off your parcels each day if they have enough staff. Granted some people, no matter what public service they are in, are not going to budge. However, most people are generally kind natured if you let them be and i think that if you get to know them by telling them a bit about yourself then it will begin a nice dialogue between you both and they will be more than willing to help.

It extreme cases where you simply cannot get on with the staff then it might be an idea to record each day how much you spend at their branch so you can tell them what you are worth to them each month and suggest that maybe another post office would like to have such business. Who knows, you may have them fighting over you in the end :T

I know this may seem like wishy washy talk to alot of people but it really is true..post office staff are behind counters all day and you should take the opportunity to brighten their days up and they will be more than happy to keep you going there.
...you'll always find whatever you are searching for in the last place you look...so keep going.

Sometimes at post office I see people turn up with a mass of envelopes/packets, ebay sellers I assume, sorting out their Recorded Delivery slips etc at counter.

It's a lot to do at counter.
Some of these sellers seem quite chaotic & I think, why didn't you get all those slips ready at home.

Ebay must provide a lot of extra work for Post Offices.

Bella, I bet you are young and attractive.

When you are a 54 year old male whose face frightens children and horses, life is not so easy. :D

My PO in Weybridge, Surrey is OK. It is run by an Asian family or clan and they refurbished it recently. It is now a very smart PO/newsagent/sweet shop and they usually have plenty of staff on duty so queues rarely build up.

As the shop part is open longer than PO hours, they will often do PO duty even though officially shut. I have occasionally gone in there late on Saturday afternoon and they have been happy to serve me.

The staff are usually polite and helpful so I would give it 9 out of 10. :)

Our local PO staff are very nice, take all our post with no fuss. I went to another post office with 4 items and was asked if I always posted this many - they were only small packages. I only went there as it was on the way to MILs, glad I don't live near it myself the staff were miserable with everyone I felt sorry for their customers.

Post office wonderful, helpful and friendly. Sorting office the opposite - look like they have been sucking lemons between customers.

  • The lady in my local post office is always lovely and friendly. I usually have my auctions ending on a Saturday afternoon so end up posting lots (hopefully:D ) in my lunch hour on a Monday. I always leave myself plenty of time so I can allow people behind me with quicker stuff to go first.

I had 13 parcels this week :j and she didn't blink an eye - we had a nice chat about e-bay while she was processing my parcels.

10 out of 10 for the Northville Post Office in Bristol!
