Can I get free upgrade when I renew my contract with T-Mobile
Options
Hi
Long story. But here goes!
Ive been a customer with t-mobile for about 8yrs now (when they used to be one-2-one) keeping the same number throughout the yrs and never porting it to another network! Only Changing tariffs occasionaly with them to get better deals. Im on contract!
The last few yrs my account has been upgraded with todays technology of mobile phones, ie - picture messages, video calling, web, & international calls. Etc....
In August 2005, I missed 1 months payment. And because of this, they took all of the above off my account. And sent my account to their recovery department. My payments have been regular ever since. Apart from one month when I was late paying (by 8days) due to being on holiday.
Because of This, it has stopped me in recent months from being able to upgrade. Even if I've offered to re-new my contract for a further 12months, they said they wont issue me with a new up-grade phone! Personally I think this seems harsh. I wont re-new a contract if they wont give me a phone!
I also have another contract with t-mobile (18months - which now Im 13 months into it) and Im able to use all of the above facilities as mentioned. I wanted the same tarriff as Im on now, hence why go with t-mob again. I did it also with intensions to use my main number as a back up (at the time I was getting harrassment text from my ex - another long story which is not important) But now, there is no need for the 2nd account and Ive gone back to using the first account!
Anyway, being though t-mob wouldnt upgrade my old account, I tried to port my number over to the new account, but they dont port numbers to the same network (so they say), so at present Im stuck with 2 t-mobile accounts.
Im not all bothered about keeping the 2nd account. And will cancel the contract when the time's up! But I want to keep my old number, and preferably stay with the tarriff im using.
Anyway :
Has anyone else had similar problems with t-mobile!
Why wont they upgrade me - or is it just a lame excuse from them for my payment history.
And what other networks out there can offer the same - Im currently paying £35 for £180's worth of a combination of text/calls.
I text an awfull lot. So this deal Im on now, suits me to the ground!
Im quite happy to take up another contract, cancel my old account and port my number over if the deal is right. Will the problems Im having with t-mob affect me porting my number?
Ive said I will cancel my account and go elsewhere, but that never works (usually in the past - they bend over backwards to offer the world to you to keep your custom)
Thanks in advance!

If your a texter then 3 have just brought out a great deal :-
Free Ericsson 610i
300 anynetwork mins
1000 txts
10 months line rental at £17.50 then goes to £35.00
I have found that T-Mobile are being a bit nasty of late,my friend has bills of around £200 pounds per month (sometimes upto £400) and he missed one payment due to a banking error and they would not let him upgrade,he said he was going to leave and after they checked how much he paid each month they virtually begged him to stay.0 -
Thanks for that Jaymarsh, I wander if 3 would do this deal with a nokia phone (dont like using any other brands) as I find Nokia's are idiot proof! Lol. This deal sounds perfect.
My bills used to be £120-£180 each month, then managed to reduce it below £100 by having the text bundle £10 for 200 text (I had that 3times), so that was £30 for 600 text, then line rental, vat, and other calls charged extra!
Then I was introduced to this deal Im on now, my bills each month are no more than £45. Considering what I used to pay to now, I think I have saved tons.
They wont take what "I've previously spent" or "how long Ive been with them for" into consideration! So I really do feel now, that the time is right to move away!
If you port a number over to a different network, how long can it be before you port it again?
Can you port numbers to a pay as you go or does it have to be contract?
Thanks again!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
Thats strsnge ive been with tmob for 4 years and i have 2 lines. In the past i use to pay £180 to £220 a month which was stupid. now i pay £70 for both numbers, oh keeps one and uses it in the evening i have the daytime contract with just 500 minutes.Im not an excellent payer, recently i have been paying late on and off and i got sent to the debt agency once but paid them off the same week.My contract was due for renewal on one of the numbers cant remember which 1 but they have texted and phoned and emailed to remind me to choose a new phone,I havent bothered yet,i always get a decent samsung off them.If they paly games with me i will leave and go to o2Love can tame the wildest0

MMMMMmmmm that does sound strange, I wander why they are keeping me at arms length then!
And they still offered you an upgrade, even though you 've managed to reduce your bills! So that rules out "thinking" - due to me reducing my billls, I wandered if that was an excuse!

Yes there is Nokias available on the tarrif I mentioned, as for transfering your number I'm pretty sure you can only do it when your contract is coming to an end, you can transfer a contract number to pay as you go but I dont think you can transfer a pay as you go number to contract.
Anyway heres the link for the tarrif on 3 you crazy thing !!!

I phoned T-mobile up, saying I wanted some advise on terminating my account and how many days notice to give, and how to port my number over to another network!
Instead of talking to some one on the customer service side of calls, (which I think has been my mistake all this time) I went thru the "if your'e thinking of leaving us" option instead.
The lady told me the info I required, 30 days notice to cancel, and it usually takes 5days to port numbers over etc. And then she asked the reason why.
So I explained all of the above, said I feel very dis-appointed etc Blah Blah, especially being that Ive been with them for all these yrs. and that Im not getting the full advantage from the phone Im using.
She went thru to the debt recovery dept, re-calculated my account, and everything which has been missing has been set up again! She openly admitted, that usually it takes 6months for an account to revaluated once its gone thru debt recovery, evidently mine went way beyond their time limit. They too offered me an upgrade. I declined the phone at this stage, (as Im waiting for a particular phone to become available) but requested for compensation of being without the facilities all this time, due to the incompetance of the original service advisors. They've allowed me a months free line rental. Aswell as adding credit to the account towards my future upgrade
Overall, Im pleased I finally got somewhere with them and that my feelings of the way Ive been treated has been noted. I said I will see how things develop from here on.
The deal on Network 3 is still very appealing, and Ive persuaded my OH to change over on that tarrif.
Thanks again for your help, guidance & support! It hasn't gone un-noticed!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0
