.... nope - mine still doesnt work ----argh
  • Any ex-NTL customers still experiencing problems, you will probably find changing your SMTP server to the smtp.virginmedia.com will solve it.

Looks like the old servers are in their death throes.

thank you guys, in the end spent 40 mins on phone to virgin,
they reset the outgoing servers as others above suggested to smtp.virginmedia.com - but it still wouldnt send emails on either account...
so much remote access later from virgin staff to my pc, the only way it works is if i login via virgins own website-
so they've proved there is some weird glitch between thunderbird & the new outgoing server "smtp.virginmedia.com -"

    ideas please?

anyone else on thunderbird - i love these ease of thunderbird and the fact it lets me have all our email address's open at one time & so easy to use / navigate - i dont like the vigin email set up -
any suggestions please - i'd like to keep thunderbird or something else thats simple to use
  • I use Thunderbird and switching server (both in and out) seems to have resolved it for me.

Another solution which others have reported as working is to stick with the ntl server but change the outbound port to 25. This doesn't support SSL encryption, though, so is (slightly) less secure.
