Hello
I was wondering if anyone could me.
My niece has a netbook and is wanting a printer for it. I went into town looking for one yesterday and all ones i looked at said they needed a cd drive to install the software.
Her netbook doesn't have a cd/dvd drive so i'm unable to purchase one for her. This has left completely stumped
.
Does anyone know of any printers which would work without CD needing to be installed.
Thanks for reading.:)

you can download the drivers from the printer manufacturers website"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -
State the make and model of Printer and we'll point to towards the Drivers.0

Oh thanks i didn't know you could that.
So for example if bought a Epson printer that required cd installation for the netbook. Instead of placing cd to install i would just go to the epson website, download the drivers and install them on the netbook.
The printer would then recognise the drivers on the netbook and believe the cd had been used.
Is this correct or i am being a cpomplete numpty. Sorry i am only used to installing on a desktop pc.

You don't need the CD. The Drivers on the website are the same(or newer) than the ones on the CD.0

Or copy the drivers from the the supplied CD to a flash drive and install from that.
Use the same technique for any software you need to install that cannot be downloaded.
Or borrow an external USB optical drive.
But downloading them is best, as you'll get the newest version. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thanks everyone for your help, really appreciate it
I've found three printers for my niece for less than £30 so my sister will be happy with them, hopefully.
These are the ones i've looked at so far:

The ASDA one is not an all in one. If she needs an AIO, then I'd pick the Canon every time.
But with a netbook, I'd be looking for a wireless printer. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
oops sorry meant to post this one:

Just found this one For £29.99 from curry's with free delivery:

Well found two wireless ones:
Epson Stylus Sx235W All-In-One Printer with High Speed Wifi (Print, Copy and Scan)

ADVENT AW10 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer
http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/advent-aw10-wireless-all-in-one-inkjet-printer-06693770-pdt.html?srcid=867&cmpid=comp~Google~Computing%20Accessories~06693770&istCompanyId=bec25c7e-cbcd-460d-81d5-a25372d2e3d7&istItemId=mratxlp&istBid=t
So it looks like i can reasonably priced wireless one for under £40 new.
My sister doesn't want to pay a lot of money for one, but prefers it to be new. We have an HP AIO which to be honest was cheap when we got it in the sale, now i'm saving up for a good canon printer.0
