Forget Epson or Advent (PCW own-brand).
Do you actually want an AIO or an inkjet?

STAY AWAY from the Advent, unless you like paying through the nose for ink.

The Advent appears to be a branded Kodak (and look what just happened to them).

You can't use Kodak cartridges either.

She just wants a printer i think.

You see it's for my nieces who basically wants to print pictures of princesses and homework for Primary school. So nothing too flash just cheap and works with a netbook.

I've found cheapish but not compatible with a netbook.

Advent out the window, just looked further into it, not good at all.

Does she need a colour printer?

If not you could look a cheap mono laser printer.

I bought my daughter a Samsung mono laser printer 4 years ago just before she went to Uni for under £40 and it's still going strong. It costs next to nothing to run as the toner cartridge is screwed together and can be refilled from a bottle of toner. I think I paid £8 for the last bottle and that gave me nearly three refills.

The others are quite right about downloading the drivers but it could be easier than that. Windows may even have drivers pre-loaded depending on the make of printer. I could be as simple as plug and play.

I think it was an ML1350 the current one seems to be ML1860 and costs £40

    Ignore my previous post.

You provided more info while I was typing it. If they want to print pictures then a mono laser won't do.

Thanks masonn for your help, i might be able to persuade my sister to go for a monolaser as it will be cheaper for her than a colour one.

She's complete technophobe so has no idea about pc's, electronics etc and relies on me to do it for her. As you can tell i'm no expert either!!:rotfl:

But i can fix a pc by myself!

I agree - you get what you pay for with Advent.

I noticed in last Saturday's paper that Staples were advertising the Canon MX410 for £39.99 (reduced from £120) it is a 4-in-one - print, copy scanner, fax and wifi.. I can't find it on the Staples website - but when I was in there last Thursday they has lots on the floor - if interested give them a call.
