I wondered if this is prompted at all by loosing edibility for Income Support when your child turns 7.
In short you'd likely have to get student finance i.e student loan, probably get a grant, lose IS and passported benefits, keep your CTC/CB and Maintenance.0 -
If your course entitles you to the student finance package you will receive student loans, a special support grant, a tuition fee loan (paid direct to the university), a grant from the university. You will also be able to apply for a childcare grant and parents learning allowance.

You may be entitled to claim benefits including JSA during the summer if you are available and looking for work. Some of the student finance package is counted as income when calculating benefits.

If you are not entitled to the student loan package above (I'm not sure how HNDs are funded) then you may be able claim some benefits while studying - it's worth speaking to the student support services at the place you want to study as they'll be able to advise what's available and also what support the college can provide.0 -
I think HNDs come under student finance so you'll receive a student loan and grants etc. You won't get an equivalent benefit but can still claim child tax credit and child benefit and would receive the maximum student finance package.
You need to contact the college and ask if you are able to claim student finance for that course.
You can't really do much until you know that for sure.0
