Hi anyone be able to advise roughly i am currently receiving Income Support, Child Tax Benefits, Child Benefit and assistance with mortgage SMI (approx £66 per month) towards mortgage, i am a lone parent and having struggled to find a part time job within the school hours (no family etc to help with after hours) anyway i have been offered a full time college place which i am tempted for my son and i to have a better life in a few years can anyone let me know if i would lose benefits, or would it change to something else just curious determined to do the course but dont want to suffer financially!!! Thanks in advance MSMD

Is the course below degree level? Will your son be under 5 for its duration?0

Many thanks for your reply i am going to study a 2 year HND so no under degree level and my son is 6 in primary 1 so i would need to arrange after school club etc just wondering how much i will be out of pocket or if anything i will get help with, thanks.0

Im sure you will lose your income support if there is a loan available to you. Which means you lose your SMI too0

Yes i suspected i would not be able to receive Income Support or Smi just wondering if there is an alternative i would receive, im sure i read somewhere i would get help with childcare costs whilst at college ie, after school club, just wondering if would receive JSA or something else?0

JSA is if you are seeking full time employment in which you wouldnt be0

Ok well i meant as an example, if anyone with useful replies, i appreciated JSA means someone seeking employment to which i most likely wouldnt be if studying full time but for anyone wanting to help with my enquiry i mean an equivalent to Income Support is there any help i would receive? got a dilemma on as i need to reply to accept the course but obviously i will need to weigh things up whats right for my son and i. And i also have in my mind to contact the Job Centre i just thought someone may be able to help on here, thanks in advance!0

You asked if you would recieve it? If you know you wont then why did you ask if you could get it??????0

Any finance would come in the form of student funding

you should speak to the college re childcare costs as they may have some funding available but it tends to be limited0 -
I am asking for genuine help on here not to assist those that want a debate i wasnt 100% sure and still am not, its replies like yours that make people not want to ask for help, i am confused and dont know for sure - in seriousness i wasnt sure if JSA would apply as i may have to look for part time work if benefits cut, thanks for being so unhelpful i have a really difficult decision to make and you are just delaying GENUINE helpers replying wish i had never bothered now.
Hope i have brightened up your day though!0
