The gardens are quite nice, something your mum would like? Makes a nice walk down to the beach and to the big astrology thing and then you can walk across the beach to the RNLI and then through town, makes a nice little walk and fairly quiet too.2p off is still 2p off!0

Yes, you must do this, the squirrels will climb up you leg to take the nuts from you, they are vey tame. We enjoy this as much as the kids!!!! Peasholme park is lovely just to walk round. There is also the mere if you enjoy walks. You could get the bus to Whitby and go to the abbey.Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance....0 -
There are lots of amusements on the south side of scarborough one of them called fantasy forest, this has lots of slotties inside and also a ball pool called percy parrotts, it also has a bowling alley at the top. Its not cheap but hey is anything in a seaside town. On the north side which is connected by what is called the marine drive (you can walk around or catch the open top bus) there isnt very much appart from peasholm park. The beach is nice on this side and that is where the sealife centre is. In the town there is pizza hut and mac d's. There are plenty of sandwich shops (cooplands and woodheads) that sell nice sandwiches for your lunches.
Hope this helps if you need any more help just pm me.

If you don't mind walking the seafront all the way around the front of the castle is great on a fine day, I used to love going down the cliff tram (if their still working) from the town to the sea front as a child (one had a cafe at the top)
If you find out bus times before hand and have a fine day you could take a trip down the coast to North Landing, I like to go walk round the cliff top path to the Lighthouse at Flamborough, (it's my favourite place to visit ever) then get the bus into Brid or Filey for a wander round, or back to Scarborough.
We stayed at the Donnington Hotel (bikers B&B) in Northbay but you may want to look for somewhere more central if you don't have transport - we were on the Bike so had no problems popping into town. Scarborough is quite a large town if you don't have transport, check out the tourist info sites

Just a quick hello to you from a fellow Cas Lass.
Thanks for all your brilliant suggestions. I'll probably have to book to go again in order to do everything. Kids are so excited about the squirrels (not me because i'm an adult!!!). I've got accomodation for £59.95 total for both nights for family room. How good is that?? Booked tickets for Sealife on Lastminute.com. Cost less than £18 for 4 of us. I'm pretty chuffed with my little self. Travel, lodging and sealife centre for 4 people and it hasn't cost £80 yet.
Thanks again to all you wonderful people.

I used to go to Scarborough all the time as a kid and we didn't have much money, so we mainly did freebie (or cheapie) things. The sands are the best ever for sandcastles, Daddy-carved cars etc. - as long as it's not raining.
South bay: you can ride on a donkey, then walk all the way along to the Spa where there is a quieter bit of beach called "Children's Corner" (probably cos it's handy for some toilets...?) with fab rock pools for catching crabs, little fish etc. It's at the bottom of one of the cliff lifts, but walking (down?!) is fun too as you can go through a series of cliff gardens including one with a fish pond, and the views are gorgeous. We used to be made to walk up too, to the tune of "Grand old duke of York" - after a while everyone is too breathless to moan, and with the lifts at upwards of £1 a go, it's good moneysaving!
We often used to hit the North bay on wetter days: Peasholm Park has a naval battle (may be only summer?) which is corny but fun. There is a bit called Peasholm Glen where you walk down a series of little waterfalls and bridges to get to the pond. You can then go to the Corner Cafe pn the seafromt and have a waffle.
You can get a little train from Peasholm along to the Sealife Centre from there which your boys will love if they are Thomas fans. Near the Sealife Centre, when we went recently there was a Pirate Adventure Golf - a bit pricey but it took up a whole wet morning. NB Sealife gets mega queues when it's wet, so go early + don't forget your mac.
The Castle is good - free entry with English Heritage which I think you can get with Nectar rewards. On the way up the castle hill from the harbour there is a nice little playground.
Double decker bus along Marine Drive is great, or a walk, but don't ignore warnings if it's high tide as people have got swept away there, You can look out for Hairy Bob's Cave on the cliffs below the castle in the North Bay - it's really just a big rock with a funny natural "face" - we used to go and climb in it but the cliff may be unsafe now.(Well, we thought it was pretty cool in the 70s!....)
When we go now with our kids, we never miss a trip to Boyes' department store as there's always some bargain to be had, and there is an evil (if rather rude) joke shop, with a big shop window, on Sandside as you walk up from the beach into the town.
Chips tip - ask for Scraps on the chips (free?) and you may need less fish! Best ice cream is probably Harbour Bar but I may get hate mail from Jaconellis for saying so.(also they do fizzy lemon flavour)
Hope you have a good trip and get some good weather...I'm jealous (as you may have gathered!)0
