Scotcall card through door

Hi,
Had a card from "Scotcall" thru the door with a mobile number on. Thing is I don't owe anything apart from what's on a credit card, and that's up to date.
There were some debts in the 90s when I was a student and various companies have sent letters trying to claim these over the years. They're all 100% statute barred tho, nothing paid since the 90s, no correspondence - only thing I send is a template letter from the net not confirming I own the debt, and claiming harassment if I receive any more correspondence.
So any advice? There's no reference number or anything to check, but I know there's nothing current they could be chasing. Things have a potential to get nasty when one of their monkeys comes around and I tell him to do one. Luckily i've got cctv which records.

They may well still be chasing SB debts.
Just gve them a call and ask what its about. If it is a SB one then you can tlel them on the phone/letter - they are not allowed to chase SB debts once the debtor has stated they know it is SB and wont be paying.0 -

Why wasn't they paid back then?
(Not relevant to your query mind)
If they turn up on your door, say 'This debt is statute barred and you have no rights to be on my property. If you're still on my property in a few minutes I will be calling the police'
If they don't leave phone the police. They'll soon get the message.0 -

Thanks. They weren't paid back as my circumstances changed and I couldn't afford them, I tried to deal with them at the time, requesting a "stay of interest" as recommended, but they still kept calling. I moved out, didn't put my name on the electoral register for years.
When my parents died I moved back into my family home and were still getting occasional letters. Checked into it online and found out about Statute of Limitation.
So, it wasn't intentional but as the law's on my side i'm not going to pay them now.
Yes, I was wary of calling them as advice always tells you to put it in writing. As they haven't given me any indication of what they're chasing, I can't put in writing that it's SB, so I guess i'll just have to wait for them to visit.

Always amazed why you people dont simply pay your debts.if you cant afford services that you want, dont ask for them. Get a job, put money in the bank and then start asking for business to give you services. Why should these companies be out of pocket because you cant pay your bills?0

Becase these companies use underhand tactics and act fraudulently in many cases chasing a debt that has no legal right of recovery.
Maybe they shouldnt have bought a debt that has no legal chance of recovery in the first place. Pond life is too good a description for themThe Daily Mail

Erm sorry but disagree with you ..
this company is terrible. I DID pay my debt to my insurance company but every other day scotcall leave an automated message saying i've to call to pay it and even tell me they will send a field agent out.Don’t put it down - put it away!

You clearly ignored the point being made... that had op paid the debts owed they wouldn't even be in this situation. You can hardly justify not paying a debt based on the actions AFTER your failure to pay!0 -

firstly.. had the original bill been paid op wouldn't have been contacted by this company.
secondly.. your situation sounds like an admin error which shouldn't have been sent to them, completely different to ops situation.
This is as ridiculous as the argument 'I didnt pay for parking because I dont like the tactics these private PCN companies use', which seems to be a common defence over on the motoring board.
If I was op, I wouldn't pay them now they are statutory barred, and also like op i'm not perfect - but lets not try and justify not doing the right thing with some crap defense.0
