Should we cancel our flights?

can you not get someone else to show her around? I wouldn't cancel the flights personally.

We have asked our neighbour if he could help us out and he said he would get back to us tomorrow and let us know, hes a fireman so not always around. The other neighbours are out all day at work so I wouldnt feel right asking them.

Our family are all in England so cant ask them, so hoping our neighbour can help us out.

We left our estate agent a few weeks ago, so cant ask them.

My partner says to cancel as jobs will always be around, but if there is a chance of a sale that would be great as then we are free to move when we please (we are staying with family when we first get there)

I say the jobs are more important as if we both got fulltime work then we could leave the house empty until it sells and we could rent somewhere until we get on our feet, then we dont have to stay with family.

When I was selling a property I let the estate agent do everything, including showing round the prospective buyers. That's what you pay them for, after all. If you don't have an estate agent then surely there is somebody else you can ask (or even pay) to show people round in your absence?

No way will she be flying anywhere so soon after gallbladder surgery. Crazy!

You go ahead and sort yourselves out. Jobs and your own security are your priority. If she booked flights and didnt confirm anything with you, then its not really your issue. Besides, her travel insurance should cover her for cancellation due to her surgery, whereas, if you cancel you wouldnt be covered due to someone else not confirming arrangements!

If she's this difficult to pin down just for a date for a viewing, imagine what a nightmare it would be dealing with a sale with her.

I'd definitely agree with the posters saying go for the interviews. Good luck!
  • I had my gall bladder removed last April, via keyhole surgery. I had a drain fitted after due to the amount of bleeding. I was in agony. I definitely wouldn't have been up for flying 2 weeks later, come to think of it, 6 weeks later I was just about right......she could end up having the op done not via the keyhole route so recovery would be a lot lot longer.

I would stick to your plans, don't cancel the flights and have the interviews. Good luck.

I would get in contact with them and explain the situation. After all, you tried to get a hold of them, they didn't reply and went ahead and booked their flights before first confirming with you. Their reason for not having picked up the phone is fair enough, but they should still have consulted back with you first especially as you were trying to get a hold of them that should have alerted them that maybe something had come up.

I would tell them that you are trying to get the neighbour to do the visit, however, could they look to see if they could change their flight. Even if they complain - in which case you make sure to remind them that they are the ones at fault for booking the flights before calling you back- at least you give them the option. It would quite horrible for this woman to travel all the way after an operation for nothing. Their error doesn't deserve such an outcome and better they know as soon as possible.
