Thankfully Lyn we will never be far away, I am sure we will get used to it, it was just such a shock to see a different format, I thought I had clicked on to something else on my favourites

Hoglet and all others who might have been at work (or sleep in Hoglet's case):) we had an enormous shock just after lunch when the whole of this site changed (and not for the better either). As you can see it is back to normal at the moment we are told.
I think we have a lovely little community on these threads, helping and listening to each other, and I feel it was very insensitive to just change the format without even advising us that this would be done.
The format was dreadful, and after a short while many people were suffering with headaches. I am sure my 18 year old grandson would have had more success designing a new format.

Goodness me that sounds dreadful, I hope it stays as it is, as Candlelight says we do have a wonderful little community here in our little corner of MSE.

If you had an eighteen "month" old grandchild instead of an eighteen year old - he or she would have done a less garish and painful job of it "This site is addictive!"

Hi CANDLELIGHT just read your messge (finally!) as the forums seem to have been down for maintenance since lunchtime, just kept getting that message box on the screen until I put in a google search for MSE Old Style when it let me in and I got the forums up a few minutes ago. Thanks for the info which I've written down and put in a safe place for the future, many thanks, Lyn xxx.0

Good evening all,
A cold and blustery day here, but it is March so to be expected.
Hoglet we put the clocks forward tonight, so lighter evenings thank goodness and spring to look forward to.
Just to warn you I am going to boast now. DGD1 phoned me yesterday morning to say she had just passed her driving test, she was so excited bless her, first time as well. She hadn't told us when she was taking it, and I purposely didn't ask. We are so proud of her and we took a card round to her together with a bracelet and some flowers.
Lyn sent me a lovely cook book the other day and I made gypsy tart today which is something Himself used to have at school. I have tried several times but it is never quite right (according to him) but evidently this is the closest to what he remembers. I did have a sliver (quality control you understand) but I mustn't have any more. The book is called Feeding the Nation and there are so many recipes I want to try. I was telling Lyn I think I should have been here during the war, I find that part of our history absolutely fascinating, where they were able to do so much with so little.
I think it will be a quiet day tomorrow, I do have some ironing to do but not much else.
AOT how are you, I am sure you will be looking forward to some warmer weather? I find the cold goes straight through my bones.
I hope everyone is Ok
Much love to you all

Well done on the Gypsy Tart Candlelight, now all you have to do is come up with the recipe for 'Medway Mud and Shaving Cream' and then we'll both be nostalgically happy!0

Lyn I have tried googling it, but all I seem to get is "mud rescue in the Medway" and different shaving creams.
Perhaps if someone happens to read this they might help, I wonder if VJs Mum might have any idea.

Morning everyone :-)
Candlelight - our clocks go back next weekend so we'll have a few weeks of being confused with our time differences. I hope you enjoy the longer evenings - it always feels so nice when it's lighter doesn't it.
I had a busy weekend - quite productive too. Bought a new compost heap on Saturday and got the old stuff turned over into the new bin. The bits of the compost that I'd looked after, turned and added manure to were lovely and well rotted. The bit's I'd shoved on top were just dried and unrotted - I must turn it more frequently and add more manure!
Quick trip to the market for cheap veggies, then off to my cousin's to get her chicken's bedding for the compost heap. Got some birthday presnets bought and a bargain top for me - well not quite a bargain but it was half price and merino so will be good for winter.
I got some work done yesterday morning, before afternoon tea at my cousin's. The weather was very changeable and after the 3rd time of taking the washing in I have to confess that I gave up and shoved it in the tumble drier. Need to get some chutney made this evening - my last batch of quince jelly didn't set so I need to get that back on the hob - I may have miscalculated the required amount of sugar.
Cats all grumpy yesterday morning owing to the rain, but settled down a lot when the sun came out. They sat all over me when I was working!
Busy few days at work coming up for end of financial year, but at least I'm only in 3 days this week :-) I've taken Thursday off as well to prepare for some visitors we have arriving on Friday (and get some work done at the same time) :-)
much love

Hello all..o i am so glad to be back..
Firstly i caught a nasty cold that knocked me over literally..then Annie was put on bedrest..so of course we rallied around her..i was going there everyday to check on her, take her to Hospital for check ups and looking after her..bringing her laundry home doing her shopping too..was getting home and having to start again..Thankfully Simon picked up my slack and helped out at home..i was just so tired that i dropped off to sleep on sofa at times..now she is in hospital being monitored constantly and i feel like i can relax.
We have been busy..the allotment is planted with potatoes and has been dug over..my hallway is finished and now i have plans to do my downstairs loo and the girls bedroom.
We finished our work on the Solar System..we made some models of the Planets using Polystyrene balls and lots of paint..a model of the sun using paper mache..it looks good and will be hung up in order so we can continue our work on indidvidual planets.
I have sorted out my linens and gave away loads to my elder girls plus some quilt covers i found in the attic of Action Man and Sonic the Hedgehog..Fionna had them for my little GS..
My de-cluttering is going really well..i have decided that i need to get back to being Tom and Barbara..i have far too much stuff well we all do..so now the girls are in on it too..they have been amazing..they gave away a lot of toys and books to friends and also a local charity that helps low income families..a friend of mine runs the local food bank and is now taking donations of clothes and toys too..lovely lady and we are more than happy to help out..
Simon has been with Sams help sorting out his greenhouses..they have planted cucumbers, tomatoes and cucamelon seeds..plus other ones but i can't remember what they are..
Simon is now on the waiting list to get back to Derby Hospital and the Hand Clinic there..he is on some different painkillers and they seem to be working ok..he is sleeping much better but is still anxious..the doctor has been great and arranged for some counselling for him..he is worried they will want to amputate like the wanted before..bless him.
Annie's little babies are doing well and will be born via section on April 7th..she is well aware they will be small but i don't think she is prepared to see her babies with needles and monitors on them..she is in hospital being waited on hand and foot by a team of midwives..she is so bored though..i sent her a package of flapjacks and some books plus some magazines..her husband has been away on a training course for 3 weeks which is why we took over looking after her..he is back now and staying at his grandparents who fortunately live near the hospital..
Fionna had the all clear again at her 3 month check and is planning wedding full steam ahead.
Heather has just celebrated her 1st wedding anniversary at the weekend.
I have been listing things on ebay too..i found my old black dolls and listed them they have had a lot of interest..plus Annies prom dress..a gorgeous Amanda Wakeley gown beautiful..hopefully they will sell and i can swell my little savings account..
I am hoping that i can catch up with everyone and everything now that i know Annie is in hospital..sounds daft but i have not been able to relax..
The girls and i have been making little home made choclates and Easter biscuits (mlw recipe)..they all look good and don't last long..
I will go now and read through all i have missed.
Love to you all
