Quote from HETA engineer to install Firefox 5CB

Hi all,

I'm about to purchase a wood burning stove... been recommended to go for a Firefox 5CB clean stove.

This is the quote from HETA for GBP 1350:

Remove current fireplace suit
Reform opening
Re Lintel and widen opening
Chimney sweep
Supply and fit a fire chamber (black)
Lay Hearth and Back Hearth
Any plastering and making good
Supply and fit Register plate
Supply and fit multifuel flexible flue liner and parts
Installation of stove
Supply and fit flue pipe
Supply and fit chimney cowl

Can anyone out there tell me if this is a reasonable price?

Also whether the Firefox 5CB (5KW) is of any good?

Thanks!

There's a lot of work there for the money is what i'll say. My two quotes were circa £1500 just to supply the liner and fit stove. I had to make good the hearth on my own!! So long as he does all that work to a good standard then I'd personally say that was a good price. As for the stove, well some swear by those Chinese stoves and others loathe them. Take a look on whatstove and see for yourself. Who recommended that particular stove to you? If you can stretch to a bit more cash then a Charnwood 4 is a nice little stove.....
BTW according to whatstove the Firefox is actually 6kw necessitating an additional air vent. Make sure you check and there is no mention of a CO ( carbon monoxide) monitor in that quote which is a legal requirement.

    Hope that helps, RD.
