  • i personally dont see a problem in reusing old pipework, but technically it is fraud if you;re charging them for brand new, also because the old pipe you take out of the property is really the property of the council so you shouldn't be reusing them.
You are making an assumption here - actually it depends on what the contract says, some contracts put the onus on the contractor to take ownership of all waste and dispose of however they wish, either paying for disposal or selling it on if there is value to it
You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow

If you have done nothing illegal or fraudulent, you could insist that they report this to the Police. This is a very serious accusation and if true a criminal act, it is also a slur on your reputation. An innocent person has nothing to fear, if the Police think that a crime has been committed they will investigate, it would be difficult for an employer to dismiss anyone for an offense that the police think is not worth prosecuting. In terms of your reputation, many employers now do serious checks on contractors, this could follow you for years, if you let it stand.
  • Got a list of where you used old pipe?

If so and if you get sacked go back and tell them you were sacked and why.

I wonder if the employer will be happy having to go back to those jobs to put it right.

Your company maybe the ones who are in trouble here and you are the Patsy. If they are booking out jobs and over booking (replacing new for old ) and not doing it but charging the main housing company, council maybe or housing assoc. Housing assoc. have checked a job checked job sheet now trying to recoup hours spent saying but not doing and materials used & not used from your bosses. there now blaming you for not doing what they knew you werent doing and screwing you for it. Sack the worker ,blame the worker protect themselves try to keep contract &their jobs .Fight them but good luck .Or move on

I was in the same position as you are now two years ago and I feel for you. Let me give you some advice If hand on heart your are innocent.
There is a misconception that it's only the victim of a crime who can report it to the police, it can be absolutely anyone the Police have a duty to investigate the alleged theft. This will show you are serious about the allegation and if they are pulling a fast one they will very quickly cave in. I left the company 3 months after clearing my name it was long enough for me to see my supervisor dismissed for gross misconduct.

    kind regards

That is simply not true. The burden of proof is far less for a dismissal to be fair, than it is for the police to bring a prosecution.
