e mail from Alpha telecom on 14th February so perhaps all is not lost We wait to see
Re: Alpha Telecom account
We sincerely apologies for the disruption in your service and the inconvenience this may have caused. We are working extremely hard to try and resume the services of Alpha Telecom and we will advise you within the next five working days. We appreciate your patience in this matter.
Yours faithfully,
Alpha Telecom Customer Services
Yes I got the same email too. However not heard anything more from them since. Thought I would try and call the customer service numbers at the bottom of their web page today. One does not work, the second and third ask you to enter your pin....I did this and guess what? It did not work! Then it cuts you off. Terrible service from these people who say they are 'experiencing technical difficulties'. My account is no longer active as I cannot access it on their site. They have my money and I want it back like everyone else that has been affected. Has anyone found anymore updates on this company?0 -
Hi, I’ve been in touch with my credit card company and they will be sending me a Transaction Dispute form to fill in.
Not sure where that email message got sent from ... might be a quirk in their system. Talking of which cannot even get into webpage login page now .. even if I could I was not able to log in .. so unable to confirm how much was in the account.

Hi, received the following about an hour ago...Guess will have to wait and see after Tuesday 6th March. Think they are trying to stall us whilst they do a runner with our money.
Dear Sir/Madam,Re: Alpha Telecom accountFurther to our previous correspondence, it has taken us slightly longer than originally expected to work towards resuming the Alpha Telecom services.
We expect to have a solution latest by Tuesday 6th March.

Important Message from
Alpha Telecom
Dear Sir/Madam,
Re: Alpha Telecom account
Further to our previous email, as promised we would like to update you with the current status...
We are now just finalising an agreement with a new telecom firm that has been established since 2005 and forms part of a larger group. Our main aim is to make sure you resume service in the next few days.
Please expect a call from us shortly with full details and an update on the credit you currently hold in your account.
We once again appreciate your patience in this matter and apologise for the inconvenience.
Yours faithfully,

I've been using AT for donkeys years, without any problems, apart from 'technical problems' which now I imagine were times when the company was taken over but someone else...
Luckily I had very little credit with the, but lately they have started to appear rather dodgy in the way the work, particularly pestering with phone calls to get you to top up.
I feel for those who put a lot of money on their account, they were giving good discount and was tempted to do the same. Hope peeps get their ££ back from the card company.
Looking for alternatives, I liked paying upfront instead of dealing with bills every months (small amounts anyway), and the 0870 nos make me a bit nervous as they change their prices too often.0 -

Thanks Terra - your email sums up my situ too. Alpha rates used to be excellent and service (incl. CS) were pretty good. I did reach £150 or so a few years backs - then fell foul of not using for 6 months and they closed my account. Stayed like that for 3 years before I got the guts to threaten court (or worse - MSE!!). They pulled their butts into gear, renewed my credit, since then I'd been steadily bringing it down, ignoring those tempting Top-Up call promo's - simply as their prices no longer compete. I'm on about £15, so don't wanna lose it, but won't cry too much if it's gone.
Heady times were those, a 'squeeze' now and then has to be a good thing! I too use Top Up now and agree with a previous poster that £1.50 is a more acceptable risk.0 -
Dear Sir/Madam,
Re: Alpha Telecom account UPDATE
Further to our previous email, we would like to update you with the current status.
We have now finalised an agreement for the new Telecom Group to commence providing you with the service. Unfortunately it is taking a little longer than expected to transfer the access numbers from Onyx. We are awaiting on Ofcom to carry out that task and the final paperwork is being completed.
If that is not completed within the next 7 days, we shall than contact you by phone or email and provide you with the new access numbers.
We once again appreciate your patience in this matter and do accept our apologies for this delay.
Yours faithfully,

Has anyone "been contacted" or heard anything about "the new Telecom group?"Needless to say, I have not been contacted and my old account number and pin does not work. There are new numbers on the Alpha Telecom site with the opportunity to hear a message in either French or English. It then says put in your pin number, whereas it used to be your account number followed by your pin...I wonder if they are taking money again but making all the old accounts redundant. By the way, I have been using a company called top up now as advised by another poster a few months ago and it works exactly as it says on the tin...good quality line as well and good for Virgin landline users too.0

Anyone have any updates on Alpha Telecom?
A few months ago they said they would contact existing customers about continuation of service via a new company.
According to Companies House, Onyx Innovation UK Ltd (trading as Alpha Telecom) is currently being liquidated with a wind up date stated as 31/5/2012. The Companies House site also states the case practictioner.
Meanwhile Alpha Telecom's website (alphatelecom dot com) has resurfaced in Italian - ironically stating "Founded 1996".
Alpha's other site securecalls.co.uk where you could log-in to check balance is offline.0 -
I guess the deal never went though and the whole things been shut down now?
